Most people know the toy "Etch A Sketch," but relatively few know that Ohio Art Company produced it and some of America's most beautifully lithographed popular toys. Over 400 color photographs of toys from the 1920s through the 1980s and the text explore the evolution of Ohio Art. Catalog pages, information for determining dates of production, and a guide to current values make this a must for toy collectors.

About the Author

Lisa Kerr has been a collector since childhood. She started with plastic purses and "Woolworth's" figurines, sea shells, and postcards and moved onto beaded purses, tin wind-up toys, and tin-lithographed toys. She lives in Seattle with her family and many pets and practices as a trial attorney in Seattle Municipal Court. Collaborator Jim Gilcher is Ohio Art's resident historian. When collectors call the company with questions about old toys, they are usually referred to Jim. A native born Ohio man, Jim has worked at Ohio Art for twenty-eight years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as complete as it could have been., October 23, 2000

I bought this book as I collect the metal farm playsets made by the Ohio Art Co. I was quite disappointed as they had very little information on them. They made many more sets that what is covered in this book. However, if you are interested in their children's watering cans or dish sets, you'll be in heaven as they must show just about everything they ever made. Quite impressive!
