Ohio: Atlas of Historical County Boundaries,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ohio (Atlas of Historical County Boundaries) (Hardcover)
Newberry Library's Atlases of Historical County Boundary Changes are the best studies of county boundary changes this genealogist and reference librarian has ever seen. The counties are arranged alphabetically. Each county's changing boundaries are shown on a series of maps. Some counties have so many changes that 7 or more maps are needed. Towns and rivers appear on the maps along with present day county boundaries so historical boundary locations are easy to see.
The volumes are expensive and have not been published for all of the states. If you need to know the evolution of the county boundaries of a particular state there are no better references than these atlases. |
