For whom does the bell toll?, March 26, 2006
This review is from: The Oil Age Is Over : What to Expect as the World Runs Out of Cheap Oil, 2005-2050 (Paperback)
The premise of this book is simple, Peak Oil is here and the future looks grim as we slide down the backside of the bell curve. The pro of this book is that you get a condensed version of the facts about Peak Oil without having to read countless other volumes on the subject, the concept of EROEI (Energy Return On Energy Invested) really hit home with me, and there were other good examples such as Easter Island. Mr. Savinar is a lawyer, so he states an arguement and backs it up with facts. Not that I am fond of lawyers, I just liked the approach. The con, and the reason why I subtracted a star, is that he draws some unfounded conclusions about 9/11 and the Iraq War. While the concept is interesting and full of intrigue, there is no positive proof that the US government conspired to cause the 9/11 attack as a pretext to wage war in the Middle East. He does however, allow the reader to draw their own conclusions on this subject. I liked the way the book was presented as a research document with footnotes for the quotes, etc., this led me on a weekend long search through the internet looking up the notations and footnotes and visiting the websites listed. Overall this is a concise arguement that the concept of Peak Oil is a fact. And although it was a sobering and depressing journey for me, after doing my own research I have accepted that Peak Oil is a fact and as the saying goes, luck favors the prepared.

Why havent you read this book yet ???, March 1, 2006
This review is from: The Oil Age Is Over : What to Expect as the World Runs Out of Cheap Oil, 2005-2050 (Paperback)
This book is amazing, extraordinary, shocking and brilliant. Even though, it initially appears too alarming to be true, you just cannot disagree with his succinct logic and rationale. This book can change your 'world view' forever. Savinar literally pulls the rug....from right under our secure and complacent feet. And what a fall it is....trust me, it takes a while to recover.
This guy is truly a visionary of our times !!

post peak oil, May 21, 2006
This review is from: The Oil Age Is Over : What to Expect as the World Runs Out of Cheap Oil, 2005-2050 (Paperback)
This book says peak oil as it it, warts and all.
Very well written in a style that is very easy to comprehend.
Mr Savinar points out well the link between 9/11 and the occupation of middle eastern countries (oil rich countries). In fact since publication the evidence is overwhelming that the US (and maybe many other governments), had a hand in the 9/11 attacks. See DVD in plane sight doco.
I highly recommend anyone interested in Humanity's future to read this book.
Confronting a subject ignored by mainstream media as there is no up side to this. No quick fix, no easy solution
