5.0 out of 5 stars Ojise: Messenger of the Yoruba Tradition, December 27, 1999

This review is from: Ojise: Messenger of the Yoruba Tradition (Paperback)
As a new student of Ifa/Yoruba, i found that this book gave me a clear image of the path of initiation and was instrumental in me taking the path myself. It is clearly a 21st century outlook on one of the oldest traditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baba Ifa Karade: Returning us to Tradition, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Ojise: Messenger of the Yoruba Tradition (Paperback)
I always enjoy books by Baba Ifa Karade because they are honest, clear, & concise, yet thorough. In this book he manages to share his experiences of becoming initiated into the Obatala priesthood and attaining Babalawo status, provide verses from the odu, review the importance of naming, and call Africans in the Diaspora back to their heritage - all in less than 150 pages. For novices interested in the journey one must take to initiation, this work is excellent. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be required reading for all Orisa Initiates, February 16, 2006
By
This review is from: Ojise: Messenger of the Yoruba Tradition (Paperback)
I think this book was never marketed for exactly what it was - a look at a Orisa initiate prior and during the initiation process and what he did and does to prepare and make the most of that experience. I think this is a great book for any Iyawo and would recommend that anyone that is about to get initiated to read it - even if they are practicing some other Traditional African Spirituality/Religion.
