The Immortals were the brainchild of Col. Stash Atherton. To say that the misfits in that company were a maverick outfit in Viet Nam misses the mark widely. They pulled grim missions up on the border of Cambodia and Laos that nobody in the U.S. government ever knew about, let alone condoned. The Immortals made Shadow Company, the CIA asset, seem like milk toast.
John the Terrible had been a kingpin with the Immortals and expert at slash and run. You definitely wouldn't want to mess with John the Terrible. But somebody was messing with him, now. What a really stupid thing to do.
