Since I have never owned a color laser printer before, I can't compare it to others. I can say that although it is a little noisy when it warms up to print, the quality of the print is excellent. I love the very fast duplex printing. It seems to be very good on consumables...toner. It has the best customer service I have ever dealt with. They are open 24/7 and based in the USA. If the phone lines are very busy, they will take your name and phone number and call you back promply. I have called them three times with minor issues and have been very pleased with their response.

We've had the printer 3 months, networked, used by 8 people. Generally we print 600 to 1000 pages a month, but because of the frustration of actually getting the job out, we're down to printing maybe 200 pages a month (probably less) and shifting all other jobs to different printers on other floors (instead of this printer a few steps from our desks). The failures are random -- never reproducable failures that we can get diagnosed. It fails on small jobs, big jobs, duplex or one-sided, pdf or straight output from Word or Word Perfect or spreadsheets, color or black & white. The color prints are quite lovely, vivid and crisp. It does print page-sized maps well and seems to rarely fail on those. Lately it has begun to jam, which also introduced another error in a duplex document; the inclusion of one-sided, out-of-sequence pages so that each document must be checked page by page. Granted, the jamming may be related to the humidity here in the midwestern US spring, but the humidity will be like this for months, and the machine is expensive and new. We're replacing this printer and cutting our losses.
