Hazard -- arms snapped off,

This product is seriously defective. Earlier this morning my son was riding his fropper in front of me and my husband. When he leaned back to turn, both of the steering handles snapped off simultaneously. He flew backwards and landed on his head with both handles still in his hands. On top of it all, the plastic edges on the broken handles are very, very sharp.
My son is 21 months and about 28 lbs -- well in the weight range for this toy, which he loved. Thankfully he wasn't riding it on a harder surface -- he could have been seriously hurt.

When I first saw this toy I knew I...I mean my little boy...had to have it. Bright, colorful and fairly well made, he loved it at first sight and in the month or so that he has had it, it is the only riding toy he plays with. He rides on it. He pulls it. He pushes it. The metal pin that holds one of the front legs in place got loose early on. I'm not sure if a bigger kid did it trying to ride the toy or what happened but it has not affected the performance of the toy. What's important is that this is one fun toy.

I bought this for my 2-and-a-half-year-old son who loves ride-on toys as well as bouncing. He was just weighed at the doctor's office earlier this week and he weighs 40 lbs. The weight limit indicates up to 55 lbs. He was thrilled to get it and loved riding it around the house. However after about an hour he started bouncing on it and it made a loud cracking sound. Then the entire seat snapped right in half! My son fell backward onto the wood floor. I had to box it up to send it back, explaining to my son that it was broken and he couldn't ride it anymore. This is an expensive toy to be made so flimsy. I bought the Scuttle Bug Razor scooter for him last year and that still held up...he loves that toy and it's much cheaper!

My 20 month old son sat on it and was gone in a flash. He loves it and learned to master it pretty quickly. Seems to be good exercise, too. We've tried 3 different "scooters"/ride-ons, and this one is by far the most practical to maneuver. His feet don't become snagged by tires or other elements. Great for indoors and out, even on carpet! Excellent for tight spaces due to its 0 turning radius. I agree that it might seem lightweight plastic, but I personally think it's made very well. We first saw one in a local toy store that had obviously been bruised, battered and well worn in (my son contributing to that), and it was working great (and continues to work great weeks later) as far as I could tell. We highly recommend it.
Update 5/10: My son was with grandma on the sidewalks weaving through our neighborhood. He was scooting along and evidently hit a small acorn-like tree dropping (about the size of a small screw). The wheels seized up (think of when you're in the supermarket and your shopping cart runs into a piece of candy or a stray bean!) and over the front he went. BAM! Right on the chin. Nasty gash that luckily closed nicely and was treated with only glue by our Pediatrician. Lesson: use extreme caution on surfaces with debris, etc. due to the small size of the wheels. We only use it on the back porch/sidewalk in our yard or in the house. He still loves it 7 months later, and we're still big fans, though.

We have now had a total of three froppers and all three have broken in the same way and I have seen other reviewers post the same comments. The handles break off ridiculously easily if you do anything but just hold on to them. If there are pulled at all in any direction they both just snap off immediately. Serious design issue for a relatively expensive toy.

We bought a Fropper from a local toyshop. My son loves it. Unfortunately as with some of the other reviewers the arm broke off after around 6 months. I wrote an email to international playthings informing them of a possible weakness in the toy.
They responded the next day, asking me for more information to give to the product development team as they take this kind of thing very seriously. Also they are sending me a new one. I would definitely recommend this toy and this company

My son has had his fropper since he was 14 months old - he is now 22 months old. He loves it! When we first got the Fropper, it was a little tall for him, but that changed in about 2 months (note: the recommended age starts at 18 months). This has been one of my best purchases. Very sturdy and non-marking on hardwood floors - We only use this toy inside on our hardwood floors. He started foot-pedaling only, but now he pushes off and glides for 5-6 feet. Has aided in balance and forward and backward pedaling. Since the Fropper has rotating front wheels, has been very rewarding for him while racing around the kitchen island. Highly recommended toy!

My son got this when he was 18 months old and has loved it, pushed it, and rode it for over a year. It is a good first "bike" for training on balance and movement without having to use peddles. The wheels rotate all over so it is easy to navigate. My 7 year old niece (who weighs 60 pounds) decided to ride it and broke it. So, we are getting another one as my son can't get through summer without it. I think the weight limits are accurate and had she not played on it, it would have been around for years. My son has been pretty rough on it and I think it passed the test! A must for us.

I ordered the fropper for my almost 2 yr old granddaughter. I wanted to get a toy she would be able to ride (safely) and at least try to keep up with her big sister (who is 4) riding her bike. This did the trick. The toy is safe and untimidating for my shy granddaughter and allows her to independently move about, up and down the sidewalk in a fairly quick manner. No more feeling left out when the older sister goes biking! Folds easily for minimal storage and is a real attention getter...all the other tots want to ride it!

The Fropper was purchased for our sons first birthday. We recieved our fropper only two days after we ordered it! It was a pleasure to do business with Magic Beans. We experienced excellent customer service and communication and highly recommend this company and its staff! Thanks again your efforts were very much appreciated. Oh and our son loves the Fropper!
