Carlos Lopez kidnaps Annie Smith. She manages to dial 911 on her wireless phone, leaving the line open. Annie convinces Carlos that her father will pay a large ransom for her freedom. When Carlos stops at a payphone for Annie, Ross Duprée, a handsome Native American who's a former cop and a current state legislator, rescues her. Ross keeps a police scanner in his truck. Ross and Annie fall for each other, but they carry baggage from old relationships. She's a single mom not getting child support. Annie and two friends start a successful online dating service, Oklahoma Hearts Online.com. Annie dates others until Ross declares his love. Carlos is released from jail on a clerical error, and Annie suffers threats and vandalism. She and her sister are put into protective custody, but they have to run for their lives while Ross searches for the one who wants Annie dead.

Mary McCauley has written since childhood about cowboys and horses. A fourth generation Oklahoman, she grew up listening to tales of her colorful family in Indian Territory. She draws from experies as a teacher, nurse, wife and mother. A lover of Oklahoma history, geography and culture, McCauley feels like she'll never run out of ideas.

I just finished Ms McCauley's book and hated to send it end. Filled with romatic suspense it takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of thrills. As I read the book I was rooting for the lead characters to find each other and stay together, deeply in love. While romance is not what I usually read, I'd like to see this writer bring out another book for her fans very soon. Good job, Ms McCauley!
