Okra All Amazing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Okra All Stars (Audio CD)
I first picked this up on a trip to Europe in 1994. It had fascinated me at the time that Germany would be hip to the American "alt-country" and "neo-folk" movement while the typical American music fan still had to wait another three years for it to happen. Today (in 2001), there are many out there who try like hell to capture the realism and sweetness this record always had. It's time it was given its due! The music is as authentic and insightful as any classic country song ever was. If you don't believe me, you only need to check out Hank McCoy's "New Orleans". What a stunner!

When better music is made, the OKRA all-stars will make it,
By A Customer
This review is from: Okra All Stars (Audio CD)
If you think music should be unpretentious, heart-felt and sometimes (gasp!) maybe even a little fun, this record will thrill you. It rocks like Hank and twangs like Buck, without the glitz of Dwight or the schmaltz of the New Country crowd (what was wrong with the Old Country anyways?) So get it and play it and learn to forgive yourself for enjoying it. I did.

My Favorite CD of 1999,
By A Customer
This review is from: Okra All Stars (Audio CD)
I know it's early in the year, but I am going to go on record and say that the Okra All-Stars CD is my favorite of 1999! This is one cool and fun CD. From the great country version of Prince's "Purple Rain" to the cover of Buck Owen's "I Wouldn't Live in New York City" to the band's own great originals, this is one wonderful CD. It's the one I take with me to every party I go to. And it NEVER fails to get positive comments. I heartily recommend the Okra All-Stars!!
