5.0 out of 5 stars This rod rack is tops in my book
I'm not sure what the prior reviewer is referring to, as he has writtent the same review on 8 different items. Clearly it doesn't relate to the product for sale. We love this rod rack. It's nice to look at, sturdy and you can't beat the price.

Got this item for $20 and love it. It holds 8 rods and reels firmly and looks good and is sturdy. Being plastic it will not wear like wood. You can rinse all the reels in the rack and not worry about it. I highly recommended it.

I don't find it stable enough to stand-alone on the floor like pictured so I'll have to anchor it into a wall using the two racks side-to-side instead of back-to-back. A manufacturing glitch also makes the back-to-back configuration require some bolts that are not included, at least on my unit. I probably wouldn't buy this again at this price but I'll keep it and make it work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!!, May 13, 2011

Well, normally I would not write a review but I thought I would add my two cents for this product. I own four sets of these holders and I am very happy with them. I collect a lot of rods and reels so I need some place to display when not in use. I have been able to get 16 rod and reels on these holders. Now, granted I only have freshwater equipment on them. Still, being able to place 16 rod and reels on the holders is considered a challenge. The way I get the full function out of the holders is by reversing every other reel and rod. Also, I am left-handed but I learn to fish with right-handed equipment so I have both in my collection. This helps to compensate for the taller or shorter rods. This is a great product if you want something inexpensive and easy to assemble. I put one of these together in about 30 minutes. It would have been shorter had I stop watching the sports program. Well worth the money!! I hope this helps!

3.0 out of 5 stars What I expected, but I needed a trip to the hardware store, July 14, 2010

This is a decent low cost rod rack. It holds a lot of rods, but if you have to remove the reels to maximize the number you can store. It requires assembly. You basically assemble two rod holders and fasten them together. One of the side pieces was missing the built in threads so I had to go and get two nuts and bolts to fasten them front to back. Im happy with it otherwise and it is very functional in organizing my fishing rods.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okuma Rod Rack, June 30, 2009
This review is from: Okuma Expandable ABS Rod Rack (Sports)
This item is much smaller in person than it appears. The top of it doesn't reach belt level (I'm not even 6 feet tall). It advertises to hold up to 16 rods... in reality there is NO POSSIBLE way it can hold that many unless you take the reels off of them. Also, the reels make the stand front heavy and it will tip over unless you take some precautions. It actually should be marketed as a holder for toy or novelty rods. The other reviewers who mention bigger, deep sea rods have got to be frustrated. My rods are only little, 4' 6" trout rods. Yet the item tips over from the "weight" of the reels.
I didn't really want to mount the 2 units back-to-back, but I also didn't want to anchor the item to my wall. I only have about 6 rods so I was planning to utilize one of the racks and save the other one or give it to a friend. Well... I could only get 4 rods in 1 side of it, and it kept tipping over. So I was forced to mount them back-to-back as seen in the picture.
The rod rack is plastic. It says as much in the item description. But this plastic is very flimsy. The manufacturer should probably be ashamed of themselves in the contruction of this item.
Overall... not what I expected. Probably not worth the price I paid. Yet for all my complaints, i'll probably keep the item. So go figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value, August 29, 2011

The question here is mainly one of aesthetics. If you're looking for a fancy rod rack to put next to the leather armchairs in your pine-paneled trophy room, this is not what you want. If you are just looking to get your rods up and out of harm's way in, say, your basement or garage, and don't mind a blue plastic rack with the name of a rod company on it, then this is a very good value.

Just to clarify how this thing works: you actually get two racks, each with space for eight rods. These two racks may be assembled back to back, which gives you the free standing 16-rod unit shown in the photo. Alternately, you can choose to flat mount the two units to the wall as two separate 8-rod units.

I did not try the free standing back-to-back mode, but something tells me this would be somewhat unstable, unless you figured some way to fix it to the floor. Mine are wall mounted side by side, and in this mode they are very stable, so that's the way to go if you have high enough ceilings.

As others have noted the racks are a bit tight. They would hold 16 rods as advertised if you stored them with no reels on them, but things are going to get a bit crowded if you tried to put eight rods and reels in each unit, especially with the bigger equipment, so I wouldn't plan on storing 16 pieces if you're leaving the reels on. I have nine rods and reels split between the two units and that works fine, there's even room for a couple more.

But at 10 dollars a rack I still think these are a real good value - it's nice to get the rods all organized in a safe and relatively small space for only twenty bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars does what I want, July 4, 2011

Does exactly what I want, doesnt take up much space, looks good. It looks metal in the picture but its plastic, I already knew this before I purchased from the reviews I read, It also resembles a lasrge stand you would see in a retail store, but again after reading some reviews I knew not to expect a large item. I put it together in minutes and threw my rods in. I filled one side with freshwater rods/reels and the other with just two or three salt water. Its not made for Saltwater rods, so dont buy if you are looking to store your salt water gear. But it works perfect for freshwater.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great rod stand, February 25, 2011

I bought this rod stand after reading the reviews, so I wasnt expecting much after having read some negative comments. I have to say that when this rod holder is assembled properly it is very sturdy, and easily stands up on its own when racks are mounted back to back. All of the hardware came with my stand and it was easy to assemble. An all-around great stand for the money. Was so impressed I ordered one for my buddy.
