Did a good bit of internet research before ordering this rod, I like to know kinda what I am getting. Okuma Infusion combo kept showing up as a good buy for beginner and seasoned flyrodders alike. I am a first time flyer. First time out I put the fly up in tree and broke it off, not starting out very well. Next I put on a fly and hung it up and broke it off in the river, things are not looking up. I really enjoy the outside, so I forged on and was determined to keep fishing. I rigged up sort of a hybridized fly and then it was ON! I caught a fish, it was fun. I kept fishing and ended up catching 8 keeper trout for the day. One of the 8 was a real good fish according to my fishing buddy. A great introduction to fly fishing! Okuma has figured out the rod, reel, line, backing and leaders for you. Get one and have some fun.

This is a very good combo, I have used this 5 wt setup for 3 seasons catching very nice size fish from reds to grayling with No problems, it has performed flawless. A nice compact unit, and for the price you can't go wrong.

I have an okuma magnitude reel which I like a lot, so when I started looking for an 8 wt, I thought I would give this combo a try. When it got here it looked nice, just like description, but the spool rubbed against the reel, making it very hard to move it in either direction. Sent it back and exchanged it for another one, and it had the same problem. As far as I could tell there was nothing wrong with the rod, although I never cast it as I noticed the problem with the reel right away. Should have known it was too good to be true for around $100. Okuma makes some nice reels, but this is not one of them. I wouldn't waste your time with this combo.
