Love this reel, would definitely recommend it to anglers who prefer spin casting reels to bait casting. I've landed some pretty good sized reds with this reel with ease, definitely the workhorse of the three rods and reels i own. Great buy.

I picked up this reel to throw smaller lures. So far I've taken mackerel in San Diego bay with this as well as rainbow trout in the local lakes. The drag is smooth and the reel feels solid.

Love the feel and the looks. I use 2lb. line for trout fishing with ultra light rods. You got to feel the trout and its fight!

I have 2 of these reels. I have the Si10 on a ultralight 7'6" basspro rod. And the Si30 on a H20 Express ETHOS 6'8" medium rod. I have never owned a $200 reel but I have owned the $20-$50 Abu Garcia and the Pfluger reels. These reels are hands down WAY better quality than the abu garcia Cardinals or Pfluger Trion reels ever wished they could be.! I can't imagine
ANY $200 reel feeling this smooth and balanced with such quality. These reels should be selling for much more! I will eventually have ALL my reels the Okuma Stinsons!

I have this on a 13' surf Rod. I bought the size 80 for that. It has 30lb/8mono braided line on it. I put 300 yards on it and there is a LOT of room left on the spool.
The reel is very very smooth and pretty fast. It looks good, and the finish is great. I have used several reels before (mostly Daiwa and el cheapo stuff), and this is probably the best one I own. I won't hesitate to replace any of my other old reels with one of these when necessary.
I think this reel is great at this price point.

I have traditionally preferred casting and spin casting reels over spinning reels because the spinning reels have always felt awkward to me. I bought this 5.9 oz reel to see if a light weight setup would improve my casting ability with a spinning reel. I knew that Okuma has been making some excellent equipment lately so decided to check out their Stinson reel. It has 3 drag washers and 6 SS bearings + 1 SS anti-reverse bearing and a capacity of 40 yds of 6 lb mono. The advertised max drag is 5 lbs which is well in excess of what one needs.

Out of the box, the line roller would not turn so I took the line roller mechanism apart and discovered that a bevel washer had been installed upside down. After putting it together correctly, the line roller worked perfectly. The only thing I don't like about this reel is the anti-reverse lever. It feels flimsy and is difficult to use.

Here's the best part. With the new Nanofil spinning reel line made by Berkley, one can put close to 100 yds of 10 lb test on this tiny reel. (I put over 100 yds of 8 lb test on mine but am thinking of changing to 10 lb test.) Using 10 lb test Nanofil will enable this reel to work on four power classes of rods from ultralight to med power just by changing the drag setting on the reel. The reel is advertised as an ultralight, and running the drag at 1 lb, it can be on an ultralight rod, at 2 lbs drag it can be paired to a light rod, at 2 ½ lbs drag, it can go on a med-light rod and with 3 lbs of drag, it can go on a med power rod. Just remember that the drag setting on the reel can be no more than 1/3 of the line test or the rod's advertised line wt, whichever is less.

I have mine mounted on a 6 ft light power 4-8 lb St Croix rod running 2 lbs of drag on the reel.

This reel is ok. I have been using it now for a few years with 6 lb test mono while fishing for walleye. It's a pretty reel but it has a lot of plastic parts. When a fish pulls off line against the brake, the brake adjustment sometimes changes. There is quite a bit of wobble in the handle. It's not an expensive high end reel but the brake adjustment should not change by itself..
