My quest to find the fountain of youth has not stopped. This Oil of Olay set was nice, but it was not anything special. I didn't expect to like this product so much, since I've long been a fan of the (dreadfully expensive) Dr. Hauschka product line. But this simple skin care system succeeds on all fronts.

What I like:

Overall, the line has improved the look of my skin, but take note: it does take daily use and about 4 weeks to see results.

Cleanser - the biggest bottle, the cleanser, is silky and non-greasy in consisitency, with very small exfoliating beads. I was skeptical of a cleanser with exfoliant initially, but decided to try it because I live in a polluted city and have aging skin - two reasons to want a slightly more aggressive cleanser. But I also have sensitive skin and I have to hand it to Olay, they got the balance right. My skin feels great and looks toned.

Lotion - my favorite part. I really, really like the lotion for daytime under makeup. Lotion is the easiest thing to get wrong in a cleansing system. They're either too heavy, too watery or too tacky. This one was light and the finish was somewhat powdery. I use a tinted moisturizer over it and the result is a good glow without looking greasy. I'm not going to get too heavily into the chemistry of these products, but I did appreciate the inclusion of beta-hydroxy (anti-aging), pro-vitamin B5, vitamin E, vitamin C and amino peptides (amino acid chain, think collagen). All three products do have fragrance, but it's subtle.

Eye Cream - it does its job. The Dr. Hauschka version blows little Olay away though in my opinion. It's a soft, watery cream and does well under makeup.

What I don't like:
No Night Cream - A must in any skin care line is a night moisturizer and that's lacking here. The lotion included is definately a day lotion, not as heavy as I like for night time.

Packaging Waste - Two stars for packaging. A cardboard box, A plastic sleeve over the box, die-cut cardboard paneling and over-the-top anti-theft adhesion on back. This thing was on lock down and was difficult to extract even with scissors. The cardboard is recyclable; the plastic box, probably not. Combined with the heavy plastic bottles, there's a lot headed for the landfill and recycling warehouse here.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Skin Has Never Felt Better, April 13, 2010

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a 47-year-old man. After years of sun abuse and smoking I have finally come to my senses and decided that I need to start taking care of my skin. I went to the local department store to inquire about their various products. They promised me wonderful results after spending close to $200. The results were minimal and I felt like I wasted my money. A friend recommended Olay Regenerist for a fraction of the price and the results have been night and day. After only a week of using Olay Regenerist my skin feels soft and silky. It is easier to shave my face because my skin is much smoother. This is only after using for one or two weeks. I can't wait to see how it looks after a month. Also the bags under my eyes are getting smaller and the dark circles are lightening. I am so glad I found this trio of products. They are an awesome deal and work just as well, if not better than higher priced department store skin care products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great moisturizering properties!, April 14, 2010

Great moisturizer; beyond that I saw no tremendous benefit and I am actually a little confused. Confused because the product it touted to improve the appearance of skin, yet there is no sunscreen in the moisturizer. (Sunscreen is sold separately.) I highly recommend the cleanser, but the hydration cream and eye serum leave a bit to be desired.

Cleanser: It is a cream based cleanser and does not get sudsy like soap. Also, it leaves the skin feeling soft and moist rather than tight and dry like soap and washes. I found the derma-beads to be more stimulating rather than exfoliating. Unlike some exfoliating cleansers, the beads are easily rinsed from the skin. For a deeper exfoliation, one may consider using a buffing pad in conjunction with the cleanser.

Hydration cream: Yummy! Not greasy at all. It is lightly scented but the fragrance does not linger. The moisturizer, alone, is very light and easily absorbed.

I have two issues with the hydrating cream:
1. I'm not in love with the packaging. The moisturizer squirts through a hole in the center of the top. You mush swipe your finger or some other applicator across the top of the jar to get to the moisturizer. I see this as a problem if you are prone to acne or are sick as you could continually spread bacteria and germs with each application if you don't take the time to clean the top of the container.
2. There is no sunscreen in the moisturizer. (The sunscreen is sold separately.) It would seem to me that a product that touts skin improvement would also include some sunscreen as exposure with out protection would undo any results you may achieve. As I stated earlier, the moisturizer, alone, is light, but when coupled with a separate sunscreen, the combination was too much. My skin felt and looked greasy within an hour of application. As the poduct does not list protection from the sun or outright say that it fights aging and skin damage, I can hardly take anything away from the rating for the lack of sunscreen. However, I think that the consumer should be aware.

Eye Lifting Serum: The serum is shimmery, thus it brightens the eye and masks dark circles. I have noticed no real improvement and certainly no lift. For me, it worked like any other moisturizer in that is plumps the skin as it is absorbed. If you are prone to puffy eyes in the morning, you may want to omit the eye serum as part of your morning routine. One must be careful to make sure that it is all absorbed thoroughly before applying eye makeup, otherwise your eyes will look a hot mess before you leave the house.

Cleanser: 5 stars

Eye Serum: 3 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Youthful Skin is Days Away, April 7, 2010
This review is from: Olay Regenerist Skin Care Starter Trio Pack (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have to admit that I've used Olay products for 20+ years but I've stuck with the lower price end products. I started with the regular beauty fluid and eventually went to the daily renewal cream.

This set has made a visible difference, especially in the fine lines around my eyes (see before and after photos in the customer image gallery).

I love the products because they don't leave oily residue.

I have normal skin, not too oily, not too dry but it is sensitive. I tried to go back to the Olay Beauty Fluid recently and it dried out my chin and made it all itchy.

I love using this set. The Regenerist Daily Regenerating Cleanser is easy to use and has very small exfoliating beads, not too rough and easy to wash off. I've had no trouble with stinging in my eyes or residue after rinsing.

The Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream goes on smooth and disappears quickly. One application is all I need each day.

The Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum is like magic and I've seen a noticeable difference in the two weeks I've been using it. This should be used sparingly though so that it doesn't get in your eyes. If it does, mine water all day.

There is just about enough of all products and I'm sure they will last for at least two months of daily use. I will continue to buy this and other Olay products.

I bought this product from amazon for $29.00, mainly to use a gift certificate. The added bonus was that I could apply it towards a $15 dollar rebate. The product works well but I really didn't notice much until week 5. The cleanser does have beta hydroxy acids with peptides and serves as a gentle scrub. the eye serum is great but I layer it under an eye cream. The deep hydration cream does not contain a sunscreen but my skin is so dry in the winter I use this as an added layer over my sunscreen. The hydration cream didn't seem to do much at first but I ran out of a night cream and used the hydration cream in place of. I really like the fact that it isn't that heavy greasy feel. Your skin will feel smoother and softer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Use This Regimen to Look and Feel Better, Not "Younger", June 29, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I'm a middle-aged man who long ago worked as a region sales manager for one of the world's largest and most prestigious personal products companies, an Olay competitor. I mention that fact because my work experience undoubtedly influences how I use and evaluate skin care products ... and because I feel it important to fully disclose any possible bias (either positive or negative) when reviewing any type of product or service.

With that caveat, I am pleased to be able to recommend the Olay Regenerist Skin Care Trio. I've used the regimen faithfully over the past 60 days, and am very happy with the results. Although I don't look any "younger", my skin feels healthier, and I've received a couple of sincere compliments about how nice my complexion looks. I have combination skin, a little oily around my nose and forehead, with some dry areas around my eyes and brow. The Olay products seemed to balance my skin, and more importantly, they did not clog my pores or irritate my skin. The Cleanser didn't leave any residue and was gentle yet effective. The Moisturizer was non-greasy, as advertised, and absorbed invisibly. And the Eye Lifting Serum didn't creep across my skin into my eyes which is a real problem with some products (the eye is the most active area of the face, which is why substances in that area often move around and eventually move across your rims, causing stinging and burning).

Most importantly, especially from my male point of view, is that after treating my face with the Olay trio, it always looks fresh and natural ... not as if I've been using a cosmetic on it. I really like these products. Use them not because you think they'll make you look "younger", but because you want to feel and look your best, whatever your age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Olay Continues to Impress, March 25, 2010
This review is from: Olay Regenerist Skin Care Starter Trio Pack (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My mother recommended Olay moisturizer to me when I was just a teenager, and I have been using their products ever since. I currently use Olay Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 2.5 fl oz (75 ml), so I jumped at the chance to review a new product by Olay.

Not only did this kit meet my high expectations, but each product exceeded them! I am usually very skeptical about anything "regenerative" --and I still am to an extent-- but my face definitely looked and felt healthier after using all three items.

The only thing that stood out about the cleanser is that my face didn't feel dried out, and it didn't leave beind any residue. However, the moisturizer felt fabulous. It honestly felt like liquid silk on my face, and it didn't leave my hands feeling sticky or greasy. It's possible it was just my imagination, but my make-up seemed to go on more smoothly afterwards too.

I didn't think I needed eye serum, but I tried it anyway, since it was part of the kit. I have a serious problem with insomnia, so my eyes look tired quite often. The serum seemed to tighten them up, so I looked like I had some sleep for once. Again, it could have been wishful thinking...but if I am happy with a product, I don't care if the results are actual or psychological.

My main reason for pampering my skin, and especially my face is that both of my parents have had skin cancer...which brings up the only negative I have to say about this kit: I wish the moisturizer had SPF 15 in it -- but, my makeup has SPF 15, so I still have some protection (plus sunblock). I will probably use the regenerative moisturizer at bedtime, and use the Olay SPF 15 stuff during the day.

I am a 46 year old woman who was looking for an easy skin routine. My eyes are starting to get some wrinkles and my neck as well. The trio pack is very simple and I have been using it for about 4 weeks. I have noticed my face looks more refreshed and most definitely more moisturized. I will buy this product again whenI run out. also I would like to mention each bottle allows you to dispense only what you need, so you don,t waste any.

The products that come in this starter pack are the same size as the solo versions. If you like the product, they've been great for me, then you absolutely cannot beat the price of this pack!
