About the Author

Ursula’s passion for reading led her to start writing down story ideas that she thought would make a great book. This habit led her to write her first novel, Old Acquaintances. Mystery, suspense and intrigue have always been her book style of choice and so it was only natural she follow the same path in her writing. She credits the Lord for allowing her to pursue her dreams of writing and for her supportive family. Ursula lives with her husband and two children in the Missouri Ozarks. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

More About the Author

I am a mother of two wonderful children, whom I adore. I have been married for 15 years to my best friend. I've lived in the Missouri Ozarks for the last 28 years of my life.
I have always been an avid reader, and mysteries are my favorite. One day I sat down to write an idea down for a story I had rattling around in my head. From that, the story of Old Acquaintances was born. I have fallen in love with the characters and the story line.
Having been raised as an Air Force brat, the characters in books became constant friends that went everywhere I went. To this day I still think fondly of Nancy Drew, Encyclopedia Brown and many other characters that shared my childhood with me! What a great way to honor those friends, then to introduce the world to some great new characters they can get to know and love!

Gorman has a firm grasp on murder mystery and tells a captivating story in Old Acquaintances. Her characters are believable and intriguing. Everyone is a suspect and everyone is at risk. She kept me guessing until it was obvious who "done" it. I turned page after page without putting the book down. Excellent job and I'm looking forward to Gorman's next book!

I really enjoyed reading this first book by Ursula Gorman. Many books take two or three chapters to get you caught up in the story, but not this one. The story grabs your attention in the first few pages and keeps it until the very last. The characters are interesting and well written. Very believable. I am looking forward to Mrs. Gorman's next book.

This author amazed me with her characters and plot lines, an exquisite diamond of a book - filled with gems of passion and romance, decorated with mystery, intrigue, adventure, and suspense. Captured in its beauty - engaged in the thrill and excitement wondering what would happen next, as if watching an intense movie - she brought the characters to life. This book was well-written, and a fast and easy-read. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and take you on an adventurous ride! This diamond of a book definitely needs to be noticed!

Murder, mystery, intrigue and romance all weaved into this captivating book by Ursula Gorman. The characters are vivid and believable from the first to the last. It is so refreshing to read a mystery novel where a strong, competent, hard-working woman is the main character. The romantic twist that Ursula added to this murder mystery was exciting. A must read for all mystery/romance readers!
Great book!

What would you do if suddenly, people you used to know were being murdered, you were being harassed by frightening phone calls, you began receiving strange gifts, and you felt you were being followed? All these things and more were happening to Rissa Niel. All Rissa had in her life were the only two friends who stuck by her after she lost her mother two years ago and a small boutique. Things were not perfect for the kindhearted beauty, but her sad existence turned into a living nightmare when late one night after closing up shop, a dark figure stepped out of the bushes.

I would suggest that when you read "Old Acquaintances" that you make sure you have a chair with a comfortable edge because this book will have you on the edge of your seat, a lot. It reads like a well-edited movie with every page alive with drama, mystery, and romance. The characters are interesting and believable. The story is captivating and hard to put down. My wife, who is blind, reads many books on tape. When I read Old Acquaintances to her, she agreed with me that Author-Ursula Gorman has crafted a murder mystery that is as good as any we have ever read, and we have read several of the classics. If you like suspenseful murder mysteries with a dash of romance then you must read "Old Acquaintances." ~ Steve Groll-Author of "Beyond the Dead Forest"

I thought I knew who-dun-it, but--no I didn't. If you like murder mysteries and trying to figure out who did the dastardly deed then this book is for you. Old acquaintances are being eliminated regularly and Rissa must come up with an answer as to why, and put a stop to it before she becomes a victim of the killer. Time is running out and the answer is eluding her. It appears Detective Stone wants to help Rissa find the killer, but is there more to it. The detective may be more concerned with developing a relationship with her. This story has more twists and turns than a coiled rattlesnake.
