THE MOST COMPLETE LIST OF MAKERS, WHERE THEY WORKED, & DATES,
By
This review is from: Old Cowboy Saddles and Spurs, 6th Edition (Paperback)
If you want a history book this isn't it. For saddle history get "Saddles" by R.H.Beatie. But if you need an aphabetized comprehensive listing of the known makers of American western saddles from the beginning up to the present this book is absolutely indispensible. This compilation of makers of saddles, saddle trees, and spurs obviously represents an incredible effort spanning many years. No book can cover everything about any given subject, and the authors of this one didn't try. They did, however, suppliment the extensive list with many interesting photographs and old advertisements. Although dates are missing from many of the saddles in the photographs, there is still enough information on the others to allow the reader get a pretty good feel for estimating an approximate date for almost any saddle from its style and construction. This book is an absolute must for anyone collecting or trading in old saddles or spurs. It is worth every penny of its modest price and its cost is likely to be recouped on the very first deal made on an old saddle or set of spurs.

Was looking for a book that showed the different spur and saddle manufacturers and pictures showing where maker marks were. Pictures were very basic and not clear.
