This paper towel holder is extraordinarily beautiful, with a high gloss, porcelain appearance over a heavy iron frame. I am able to tear a towel off one-handed without the holder tipping or turning. The rooster on top unscrews for towel replacement, which isn't as easy as some of the "pop on, pop off" holders, but the look of this holder outweighs any inconvenience. It is a solid holder, and its simple construction (i.e., screw-together pieces) ensures that it will last a long time.

This towel holder is very sturdy, and won't go flying when you tear off a towel.And it looks cute on the countertop!

I love the look of this paper-towel holder, but it doesn't function very well. The space between the guide bar and the rod is too small for a full role of paper towels. I have to leave the rooster off the top until I have used at least 1/4 of the roll, otherwise I can't get the roll to turn & the towels won't come off.

This is a nice looking paper towel holder. My mom bought it for me for Christmas because I'm trying to incorporate some red into my kitchen. The holder has a high shine and is ceramic. The drawbacks are as follows: 1) The rooster top is a BEAR to unscrew if you tighten it too much. We leave ours very, very loose because we almost couldn't get it off to change the roll a couple times. 2) The rooster head that screws off to install a new roll is on the heavier side and if you drop it I'm certain it will break. The rooster top is also flat and thin, so we worried we could snap it in half or snap it off with the struggle to unscrew it to change rolls 3) We go to Costco and buy the giant rolls of Bounty paper towels. This holder does not fit the bigger rolls. The roll will not spin or even really turn at all if you keep the small red rod in place (which is meant to keep the roll from unraveling on you). For the first half of a new roll we struggle to rip off sheets of paper towel which are stuck behind the small red rod that won't allow the roll to spin. Toward the last half of the roll, it works great. As an aside, I found the small red rod useful for holding my engagement and wedding ring when I have to slip them off to cook and get my hands dirty. Overall it's a decent paper towel holder but I wish it was built to handle the bigger rolls by being adjustable in some way. Perhaps if it had a wider base they could add holes further out to adjust the smaller red rod for the size of paper towel roll you're using.

I agree with review that states the roll is too tight and you have to manually unroll the towel. When you can unroll, the rooster unscrews and comes off and the metal screw also falls off. Chance of losing the screw. It goes beautifully with my kitchen and I am planning to order some of the matching accessories. I already have the trivette. Too bad the mechanics of the towel holder are not suitable for rolls of thicker more absorbent towels.

We found this piece at a discount home store right after we moved. I fell in love with the color. It's a bright, shiny red and brightens up any kitchen. It did chip, though - only in the area by where you have to unscrew the rooster to change the paper towel roll, but still. Not a major issue, and I still love this item, but it happened pretty quickly.

Looks great, nice and heavy, excellent red color. Only problem is that once you screw the rooster back on after putting the paper towel roll on, it's almost too short and makes it hard for the roll to turn easily. The screw is metric of course...so waiting on the hubby to change that out wasn't going to fly with me, I added a washer or two on the bottom where the roll goes on and that seems to have helped.

This is a terrific, heavy weight paper towel holder. You have to unscrew the head to take towels off and put them on, so it takes a moment, but it's really adorable. Heavy enough to rip a towel off it without having to use two hands, which is way above the usual counter top paper towel holders. And the red is deep and lovely.

Purchased this to replace one that my wife knocked off the counter and broke. Holder is heavy duty and does the job it's intended for. If you use the extra large rolls of paper towels, they may be a tight fit in this, but should still work.
