3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I purchased this item and once received, realized it was far too large for my kitchen. The return policy was a nightmare, I had to pay to ship it back (which was not a problem) but then I am having to pay over an additional $50.00 to restock this item. After everything is said and done I am paying more to return this item than it was worth.

My fiancee and I had looked at many different style potracks and had been the most impressed with Enclume but the price was very high. We had recently decided to change how to hang our All Clad Stainless cookware to just plain bars when I decided to look on Amazon.com. I found the Old Dutch PotRack and decided to purchase it for the looks, what our needs were and the great price. We just love the potrack. It was very easy to hang, has a very solid look and feel to it and it looks great in our kitchen. We now have our All Clad Stainless cookware easily accessible. We decided to take out the grate in the middle to be able to hang our large roaster. I would recommend it to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent value, December 19, 2002

I shopped on line and at high-end retail outlets to find the best pot rack for the money. Obviously, this rack is a Chinese copy of a classic Enclume design. Honestly... pot racks are not a high tech kitchen innovation! I decided that the prices of the Enclume racks must be for their 'designer-label'. The Old Dutch rack is more sturdy than it's Calphalon competitors. The finish is quite good, though not like a custom Harley Davidson. It needs only to not corrode and that is more than adequately accomplished. Assembly and hanging are simple, and I like the hanging hardware and good supply of hooks (24) that are included. They are also well finished in matching chrome. My one reservation was that the curved support stringers were not stamped perfectly, and they did not align perfectly where they met at the upper bolt holes. That turned out to be inconsequential once it was near the ceiling and became invisible when it was loaded... When loaded up with high-performance cookware, this rack makes a very strong decorating statement, "We COOK here!" ...no designer label nor extra expense needed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice built!, July 25, 2002
By A Customer
I purchase many kitchenware from Amazon, because they have good quality items for sell and the customer service is superb! They respond e-mails within 24 hours.

As expected, this pot rack came well packaged, well built, and has a heavy and sturdy mass to it. I love it! Because the way it's designed, the pot rack doesn't need you to balance the cookware. I have seen many pot racks that hang by two steel ropes. As you can imagine, if you put too many pots on right then it's going to tilt toward the right. But not this rack, all you have to do is to balance just a bit, then you are ok. I
couldn't believe how heavy in mass this pot rack is when it arrived. It definitly is money worth paid!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased, September 13, 2003

This is a well made product. The hardware was extremely sturdy. The screw hooks into the ceiling joists were very substantial. The supplied hooks to connect the rack to the ceiling hooks, would have lowered the rack too much for our ceiling. So we went to the hardware store and bought two very nice oval links and then spray painted them to match the graphite rack. Worked beautifully. The rack is very stable, doesn't tip, perhaps becasue the pots hang from the grid work. The pot lids are very conveniently stored on the top of the grid. I heartily recommend this product.

This review is from: Old Dutch 30-by-20-Inch Rectangular Pot Rack, Copper (Kitchen)
I am so happy and thrilled with this potrack, Im giddy. This is an "Extremly" heavy potrack, even before it's loaded with pots and pans. I just bought a new home with a center island in the kitchen. It's not a large kitchen and the kitchen, dining room and living room are combined into an open living area. Everyone said I could'nt have a ceiling rack, because of the vaulted ceilings. They also said it would be too "cluttered". When I found a handiman willing to tackle it, he was surprised, that such a heavy rack only had two hooks. You'll have to buy the chains for this, if you're going to suspend it from the ceiling. My handiman went to 6 different stores to match the copper color. He then had to go into the attic, to put up another piece of timber, so that the rack could be centered over the island. I needed about 9 feet of copper chain, about $ when all was said and done, it is absolutely beautiful. This would be a much easier piece to hang, if you have flat ceilings. Everyone that comes in remarks how beautiful it is and I can now show off my Calphalon and polished Farberware pots and pans. I've cleared up alot of cabinet space and I don't have to bang around, looking for my cookware. A word of caution, because this is hung by only two hooks, be careful to try and balance your cookware. This comes with alot of hooks, so I used about 8 of them to hang my long utensils and they look great alongside the cookware. This is also a great price, because you're probably getting 40 pounds of copper in this and other sites have similar racks for more than twice the price. Buy it, hang it up and it'll change the whole look of your kitchen.

Our pot rack looks great, works great and was much cheaper than ones we looked at in stores like Williams Sonoma. Easy to install though my husband is good at stuff like that. Spray WD40 into the holes to aid installing screws into joists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice pot rack for an old house, August 17, 2004
This review is from: Old Dutch 30-by-20-Inch Rectangular Pot Rack, Copper (Kitchen)
I read all of the reviews before I decided on this pot rack. I have an old house with a kitchen that is used to pass through in four directions. I needed a pot rack that I could hang in a corner over my microwave cart. I measured the space between the doorways and decided this would work. I decided on copper because I wanted to add some warmth to the kitchen. I have brushed stainless appliances and I bought the 9 piece All Clad polished stainless pots and pans from Amazon too. When we hung the pot rack on my 8'5" ceiling I was worried that I could not reach it ( I am 5'3"). After I hung the pots and pans from the hooks I found that I could reach them and manage to unhook them. I bought stainless Oneda utensils (complete stainless including the handle so they will fit on the hooks) at Walmart and hung them on the end where I can reach the best. It does look good and everyone who comes in comments on it. It is not the color of copper that you see on hand forged items, it is very shiny and orangy colored.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic, February 26, 2004

This is a terrific addition to a kitchen where one enjoys cooking. It's nice looking and well built. With 24 hooks it's possible to display all the tools and pans you want for easy access. We have a 9 ft ceiling and the pot rack hangs at just the right height over our island. Really like this new addition to our cooking area.
