A Winner!,

Hard to beat this Tetsubin teapot on price, size and quality. I needed this 40 ouncer to brew large quantities of tea for family and friends, and am enjoying the convenience of having ths teapot along with a large cast iron warmer to keep a pot of tea handy at all times during the day.

This is a very nice teapot. The heavy weight and cast iron holds the heat well and makes a very nice cup of tea. A good cup of tea is kind of a ritual anyway since you have to pre-heat the teapot with hot water then drain it, put the tea leaves in and fill it with boiling water(or almost boiling for green and white tea.) After you have enjoyed your tea, you have to let the pot cool completely, then rinse and gently clean the pot, the cover, and the infuser with warm water only. I'd recommend buying a tea kettle so you can pre-heat the teapot and then prepare the tea with the minimum of fuss. This pot is pretty enough that my wife will let it sit out on the counter. If she wouldn't or your's won't it might not be worth the effort. If I had to dig it out every time I'd go with teabags but I'd still buy an electric kettle.

I have a couple of the old fashioned pottery teapots that I do love, since I grew up using them in jolly ol' England. However, I love this cast-iron teapot. It makes an absolutely wonderful cup of tea and keeps the tea considerably warmer (if 'seasoned' properly first) than my traditional teapot (even when I use a tea-cozy). To properly season your teapot before brewing your tea (cast-iron or traditional), pour boiling water into an empty teapot, swirl it around and then pour it out. Then add your tea, boiling water, stir, cover and steep. Enjoy!

This kettle is not only one of the most beautiful I have seen but is very high quality. I could have bought a similar less beautiful one at the mall for 4 times the price. This kettle keeps tea warm for an hour with out a tea light. It has a unique desighn. I just love it.

Great Deal!,
This review is from: Old Dutch 38-Ounce Cast-Iron Nobility Teapot, Pale Blue (Kitchen)
This is my first cast iron tea pot and it is really a great one! It was a gift from my boyfriend(got the moss green one) and I gotta say I don't know what tea drinker wouldn't like such a gift. This is very easy to clean and looks great on my stove top. It takes a while to heat up but the tea stays warm for a very long time within the tea pot. Not very heavy and carries just enough water for 2 tea drinkers who like seconds. I really wish it came with a little metal thingy that you set tea pots on though(forgot what they are called) you can buy them separately so it's all good.My friend bought this color(after seeing mine) so I saw this blue one. The blue is not as bright as the photo on amazon it is definitely PALE blue like a "country blue" or "western blue" with hints of gray in it. The markings on the tea pot are very pretty(bamboo) and it is easy to pick up to rinse and clean.

Love this teapot. It is beautiful and strong. Should last a long time being cast iron. Be careful as it gets REALLY hot!

I was a bit worried about its size and weight and usability initially!! This is an extraordinary tetsubin. Superb design workmanship and looks so small and compact for a 38 Oz-er. Good for 4 or two cups. Why I say that is, usually it is quite inconvenient to use large tea pots to make a small amounts of tea. Like a cup or two. This one is so low...that the tea is well dipped even for a cup (US). Doesnt feel that heavy either. It has a metallic handle and is so usable. Good stuff!!When buying a tea pot, try not to buy anything less than 28 Oz, what we can actually make is always minus 4 Oz. So, 24 oz. About 2 (US) cups. The other thing is, I dont think it keeps the tea warm any longer than a good cerramic pot. May be the difference between a Japnese $250 Tetsubin and this one. But the advantage is you can use the tea candle under this one to keep it warm. This is pretty, worth buyin'!!

Um...Handle?,
By
This review is from: Old Dutch 38-Ounce Cast-Iron Nobility Teapot, Pale Blue (Kitchen)
Like some of the other reviewers, my tea pot arrived without an attached handle. I'm not sure if this was due to damage (it was very poorly packaged) or they just didn't attach it. Suffice it to say this was returned, a cast-iron pot with no handle is pretty useless and I had no way of attaching it myself.

This is a really nice and very heavy cast iron tea pot. The enamel coating makes cleaning very easy. When I received it in the mail the lid was cracked, I called Old Dutch and even though I bought it through Amazon they immediately sent me a new lid free of charge. I will be doing more business with them in the future.

LOVE IT -- LOVE IT -- LOVE IT!!! Old Dutch Cast-Iron teapots are the best. Three family members ended up with a blue, a green and a red one for Christmas. We all love our pots. They were all ordered on Amazon. What a company to do business with.
