The antique look of this copper paper towel holder puts it right at home in a kitchen with exposed brick walls and racks of copper pots. A grapevine motif is hand-embossed on the base by skilled artisans specifically for Old Dutch International. Two rods are included, both made of copper in a smooth finish. The taller rod, which holds a standard-size roll of paper towels, is topped by a copper filial in the shape of a bunch of grapes. The shorter rod helps prevent the roll from unraveling when a towel is torn off.
With the provided screws, both rods secure tightly from underneath (a screwdriver is helpful but not necessary), and the grape filial also screws on. The embossed copper base actually covers a seven-inch wooden base, which is finished underneath with felt. Care of the copper towel holder is easy: wash by hand in warm, sudsy water and avoid harsh pads or cleansers that can scratch the finish. I bought this item because its finish matched the color of other items in my kitchen. I was aware when I bought it, that it wouldn't be the highest quality "copper" item that I could purchase. So in that respect I guess I got what I paid for. I noted some little rough spots in the finish on the base, but, in its favor, the base is a firm, solid one. The bunch of grapes that is supposed to be the top looks more like a pinecone. But that's not to say it looks bad. And, finally, the paper towels are held firmly, and tear off with no problem (no wobbles or too many coming off, things like that...) The roll of towels cover up most of the little imperfections I noticed in the finish on the base.
So, that being said, despite some relatively minor appearance issues this is a decent paper towel holder.

This item is much darker then in the picture, and the finish is substandard (came with its own fingerpints in the paint) and I expect to last a few months as the tear off spindle does not tighten completely and leans as the wind blows. Unless you in love with a DARK antiques finish look elsewhere. We only purchased it as a match to the canaster set, same qualities

I agree with the reviewer who said the grapes on top look like a pine cone. The top piece didn't screw on very well either. I much prefer the simple bronze towel holder that I picked up at Bed and Bath.
