I was first introduced the the Old El Paso Gordita Dinner Kits when I went over to a friend's for dinner back around 2000. They made chicken they had cubed up added the seasoning etc. They were fantastic! Since then have been regularly eating these and haven't regretted it one bit!

To me the best part of the kit is that it comes with a creamy zesty ranch sauce packet which is tangy and pretty spicy but not too hot. I even save the packet of the leftover sauce and use it for the next several days on things like nachos. Yum!

The next best part is the gordita shells themselves. Nice and thick yet soft. Make sure you warm them up in the microwave first to make them taste and feel better. We usually throw them in the microwave between paper plates for about 80 seconds at between 30-50% power. Would like it if they were slightly bigger but for most people they are probably the perfect size. The texture is great. I always prefer soft shelled tacos and burritos over hard shell tacos, so if you prefer hard shell then this kit may not be for you or buy this in addition to hard shells and have some friends over ;)

Sometimes we use ground beef; other times ground turkey; cubed chicken. All taste great. We probably have these once or twice a month (4 nights of food when you figure in leftovers) as buying 6 at a time is a commitment but we don't mind. I think we used to get the 12 pack but then they weren't in stock for a while so we became sad until I recently did another search and came across the Pack of 6.

*Another note if you want to save a step and some time: The instructions say to brown the meat first then add water and the seasoning. I skip the water and add the seasoning immediately to the meat in the beginning then brown the meat with the seasoning already on it. I don't notice a difference. Also recommend using a leaner ground beef to avoid a grease puddle at the bottom of your meat when you are done.

I put this shizz in everything. But I can't get it where I live now, so I had to buy this mammoth pack of 12. But my tacos, casseroles espanas, and bean dip are thanking me.

Lifetime supply for the fall-out shelter/zombie attack reserves. My shoes will be delicious!

This is not the 40% less sodium product, but only the 25% less sodium. I purchased this product based on the graphic image displayed stating 40% less sodium. Just a few years ago I could find the 40% less sodium in grocery stores, but recently have not seen it again. I thought I had hit the jackpot when I spotted this item showing a package of 40% less. The 25% less is okay, but really prefer the 40.

We had used Old El Paso Chili Seasoning for many years but it became impossible to find online or in stores for months. I was so happy when Amazon got it back in stock that I ordered an entire case of 32 packs. Unfortunately, what arrived was NOT the product we had used for years. The new version is basically red salt. Don't waste your money or ruin your dinner with this!

Just a warning that Old El Paso has changed their taco seasoning and the ingredients do not match the product description on Amazon. The new seasoning made me ill and food products cannot be returned to Amazon but they did credit me for the purchase (great customer service on Amazon's part).

I have to order these kits online because they aren't carried in stores in Kentucky. They are a family favorite in our house!

After eating the lower sodium tacos made with this seasoning it is very difficult to eat the regular seasoning because it tastes so salty. There is no flavor lost in the lower sodium mix.
