Editorial Reviews

`a luxuriously produced edition, with large print, generous margins, and expansive notes. The text of the homily, based on the earlier of two surviving copies... is transcribed with few errors, and the editor displays impressive erudition in tracing the sources back to their Latin, Greek, and Syriac origins. The edited portion includes a parallel Latin version and English translation and three sets of apparatus: textual notes, lexical variants, and nonlexical variants. The variant readings are provided from the later copy of the homily, found in Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, MS 303. The homily was first edited by Richard Morris for the Early English Text Society in 1871.' SPECULUMApril 1990
