Sexy, bluesy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Old Enough (Audio CD)
In the voice, there's a taste of the little innocent white girl playing at being bad, but these are terrific cuts. I don't know what happened to her -- maybe she's still singing in Austin, Texas -- but this is one fine album that I love as much now as when I first heard it.

Great early one from one of the best female singers ever,

It's an early effort with sass and grit-- is there any singer this sexy? Her best cd remains READ MY LIPS, but this one is quite a spin (though I prefer the vinyl edition given the HOT cover photo).

After nearly 30 years, this album remains one my favorite all-timers.Why? Unique and powerful vocals, AMAZING sidemen...including Barry Beckett and many Muscle Shoals artists. AND a few song I cannot forget.
Not every song is a winner, but "Its Raining Tonite", "Sudden Stop" and "Maybe" alone put "Old Enough" into the 5 Star group. I saw her 2 nites ago and she still belts it. See her live( she is traveling with Jimmie Vaughn) and buy this album.

Lou Ann's 2nd best,
By
This review is from: Old Enough (Audio CD)
The vocals are excellent, Lou Ann has the best female blues voice on the planet. Buy "Sugar Coated Love" first and this album 2nd. Of course I am partial to Stevie Ray Vaughn and real "Texas Blues" (Stevie appears on "SCL"). There are horns on some songs on "Old Enough" and I personally don't like horns with my blues.

I fell in love with this album when my husband first played for me. He's gone now and I've been through alot dealing with his loss. For me to be able to find this album again was a miracle and brings back alot of memories. Our children want a copy because their Dad loved this album so much. Thank you for allowing us to remember the good times. I'll probrably be buying more of Lou Ann Barton.

For anyone who like Lou Ann Barton, I would consider this one as a "must have," Even the cover photo is pretty hot. For those not so familiar, but who enjoy this genre, take a good listen. I've listened to her music for several years and I've liked it from the get-go, but others might consider it an aquired taste.

Some Very Strong Points,

Another strong effort from Lou Ann Barton. She has one of the best female voices in blues music. Sultry, sexy and strong. With a power that can captivate and absorb you. The songs on this CD are solid but are raised a notch by the vocals. "It's Raining" is stunning, emotional, and passionate. "The Sudden Stop" makes a great impression. The list could go on. In short. If you are a blues fan this is an album that should become a staple of your collection. The Texas blues can not be ignored and if you are talking blues and Texas or blues and women, Lou Ann Barton's name must be mentioned. Do yourself a favor and look for this CD.

Great music, terrible mastering,
This review is from: Old Enough (Audio CD)
Luckily, I own the original vinyl version of this album.
American Beat Records' "Old Enough" by Lou Ann Barton (1982) is one of the worst-sounding reissues ever. If I were into file-sharing, I wouldn't feel bad about giving this rip-off away to others.

Good, but not one her best...Get "Sugar Coated Love"........,

...I was not disappointed-this CD is true, gritty Lou Ann style-and shows off her vocal style. Good Enough CD is just that-good enough. It sounded a lot like an Eagles album to me and when I looked a little closer-low and behold-it was produced by a former Eagle. I like the Eagles, but, the style if very different from traditional Lou Ann Barton sound. The CD sounded too watered down for me-this had most to do with the production/style than Lou Ann's vocals..
