4.0 out of 5 stars Goofy--but fun, September 12, 2007

This review is from: The Old Farmer's Almanac 2008 (Paperback)
Here it is, the 2008 Old Farmer's Almanac. As readers of these annual volumes know, this work contains a variety of items--amusements, astrology, calendars, gardening hints, home remedies, and the lot.

What many people think of most, though, is the weather section. Here, forecasts for the year are provided, and people use the Almanac. The prognostication? Not to give away too much, but, overall, things will be warmer than normal from November through May. Snow will be heavier than usual from New England through Pennsylvania to the Ohio Valley, and so on. The Almanac claims that its forecasts for the prior year were among the poorest on record. So, it will be fun to see how accurate the Almanac is this coming year.

And, to close, one of my favorite features of this year's issue--a section on "All the Right Reasons to Raise Pigs." I used to live on a farm with pigs, and it's cool to relive old times by reading about these creatures.

So, it is what it is. If you don't buy the concept, don't buy this book. If you are intrigued by the Almanac, it's now available!
