Wonderful and fun little book exploring past ideas and then you try incorporating them with today's fashions. I've tried a few and the directions are simple and easy to understand. My Great Grandmother used one of the examples to make several quilts making this little ditty even more special to me.

Fun to look through but the ideas are hard to transplant into this day & age, though that is just what I was hoping to be able to do. The "Old Fashioned" part of the title is bang on. But at this price it is a good curiousity to collect.

This is a fantastic overview of all the ideas and designs of a bygone era.
Lots of information given in this book that has been forgotten in this modern world of ours.
If you are a true artisan in the world of ribbon embroidery this is a book for you.
If you are just starting out in ribbon embroidery this is a must to have in your bookcase.

Enjoy... as I have, I have gained so much information from this book to enable me to project a wonderful type of old fashioned ribbon embroidery to which I was not aware of and without changing too much, otherwise it would spoil the whole concept of this book and its ideas.

This book assumes an advanced level of understanding and technical ability. The instructions are terse and the diagrams are small and unclear. References to "buckram" and "crinoline" backing fabric imply a "millinery supply" store.

However, the illustrations are inspirational for an expierienced crafter.

Actually, this was a fun little booklet. I am sure it was published in the 20s or 30s and not changed at all. Interesting to see references such as "smart look" in print. "Smart" is a word I have used as a Canadian and I see now it is just an old word for "fashionable". Instructions pretty clear for making various decorations.

This book was suggested on one of the French Fashion Yahoo sewing groups for ideas, samples, history, what have you, pertaining to the French Fashion Doll costuming. I haven't done anything with it other than peruse the pages, but I feel it will be a wonderful resourse once I get with it. And for the price, it's just fun to have around.
