About the Author
I was born September 2, 1950 at home in rural Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. My dad was a farmer for the must part, he raised strawberries, peaches, and a pascel of kids. Roaming over forty acres set between a mountain and the Arkansas river gave us terrain for every imaginable adventure from shooting hand-made bows and arrows from Robin Hood to the Mississippi River pirates we read about from Mark Twain. There was little time for play but storytelling went on while we milked or hoed the garden or just rested under the shade trees. I attended a small school, Gans, the graduation class for my grade was a grand total of Tweleve. My Dad died when I was sixteen. I received an Associates of Arts Degree from Carl Albert State College and later attended Northeastern State University with majors in Psychology and Biological Sciences. My five children heard the stories and Grandma's song mostly at bed time. Recently Mark asked me to write down the words to the tune my Granny taught me, he remembered the tune but not the words, very quickly it wasn't just one request, it was for all the kids. My Grandchildren ar scattered by economics from Sedalia, Missouri to Dallas, Texas and I get to spend so very little time with them. So, my sweet babies, both grown and not so grown, here is the song and the stories as I give the gift that I have cherished and now pass on to you.
