3.0 out of 5 stars Old Hickory 10 in. Butcher Knife
I only gave this knife 3 stars because it's not as sharp as I had hoped that it would be. Seems to be okay after a lengthy sharpening. I do like the feel of it for cutting up meat and Etc.

For those of you used to the stainless steel knives that flood todays market, a work of warning and advice. Carbon steel will rust! Never, ever, put these knives in a dishwasher or leave them in water. Always hand wash with hot soapy water, rinse, and then hand dry. They're well worth the little extra care.

I haven't had this very long, but the few times I've used it have been a pleasure. I wanted a not-too-expensive knife to use with my grill and smoker, and have been very happy with this one. Saw the BBQ Pit boys using one, and knew I had to have one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice BBQ knife, January 10, 2012

I bought this for cutting up brisket, ribs, pork loins, etc, and it seems like it'll work great. Like others have said, it arrives dull, but nothing a good sharpening can't fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife, November 27, 2011

Great carbon steel knife with a full tang. It will rust if left wet as all carbon steel will and it will develop a patina over time which some people dislike but others love. Out of the box sharpness is poor but carbon steel is very easy to sharpen. From slicing ribs to splitting logs this knife just rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made in USA simple tough butcher knife, October 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Old Hickory 10 in. Butcher Knife (Misc.)
Awesome butcher knife! heavier and thicker blade than rada usa butcher knife.

pro:
Sharp, Full Tang
Big knife more to machete side
Tough and durable for light to medium outdoor adventure
Medium: not too thin blade as compared to 3 mm thinner "made in usa rada butcher knife alu."
Rugged old skool feel (some my not like the "roughness brick appearance")
Good price for $15
Made in USA

Con:
The handle just right length for middle sized hand like mine (a bit small for bigger hands), but i think its too chubby and boxy. I'll rounded it pretty soon.
Questionable Blade vs Corrosion and Walnut handle durability vs water
Not good for stabbing/forking
Three brass pins in smaller diameter might be better..

Overall:
Great knife as always: after i tested it myself.

Note: Amazon shipped it so fast! 2 days shipping, arrived in the next morning??? waw its the fourth time they did it(other stuff). Sometimes i felt not ready for it since i might stick to the estimated delivery date...meaning Item might not be attended overnight. Fast is great, Thank you, but dont be too fast (or too slow) please.

I bought this knife for my husband who will grill every weekend if I let him! He wanted one that would cut thru the tough stuff on the ends on ribs. He got it! This knife is his favorite now! It's able to slice tri tip so thin, it's ridicoulous... In my husbands words "IT'S AWESOME!!!!!"

4.0 out of 5 stars OK Knife, June 3, 2011

I got this because my dad had a similar knife that has been in the family for 60 years; they do not make them lie they used to. The knife arrived in need of a good sharpening and even though it gets pretty sharp, it doesn't hold an edge like the original. I don't regret buying this knife, and I probably had my hopes set too high.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Knife, January 9, 2011

I bought this knife for a cheap price. It came in and it was sharp but not to my expectations. So I sharpened it with my Work Sharp Knife sharpener and this knife holds a great edge. I carved 3 deep-fried turkeys with this knife, steak, pork and chopped veggies for my BBQ. Great knife all the way around for the price and from one of the best All-American made companies in the US. The Ontario Knife Company from New York.
