Rosemary Wells, one of America's foremost creators of children's books, will have the very youngest child turning pages and remembering the words. What better way instill a lifetime love of reading and learning?
| ||||||||||||||||||
PreS-A wonderfully illustrated board-book version of the popular song. Wells's Old MacDonald is a rabbit wearing overalls and a straw hat. He has a farm, and on that farm he has some ducks. After going through the single verse, the last double-page spread asks, "How many animal noises can you put in the song?" and the rest is up to readers as various creatures are depicted making the appropriate sound effects. A perfect selection for very young audiences.-Elisabeth H. Hall, Arden Elementary School, Columbia,

OLD MAC DONALD BY: ROSEMARY WELLS,
By julie vescera (WEST WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Old MacDonald (Bunny Read's Back) (Board book)
THIS IS A FANTASTIC BOOK FOR YOUNG CHILDREN, FROM BABIES TO TODDLERS. IT'S A VERY EASY TO READ HARD COVER BOOK WITH LARGE CLEAR PRINT WHICK MAKES IT SIMPLE FOR CHILDREN TO UNDERSTAND. IT TELLS THE CLASSIC STORY OF OLD MAC DONALD, WITH "BUNNY" AS THE MAIN CHARACTER. THIS IS A PART OF THE "BUNNY READS BACK" SERIES. IT IS A GREAT BOOK TO READ TO THE CHILD AS WELL AS HAVE THE CHILD EXPLORE HIS/HERSELF. EVENTUALLY THE CHILD WILL BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE SING-SONGY PATTERN AND EVENTUALLY LEARN EACH OF THE ANIMALS ON OLD MAC DONALDS FARM ALONG WITH THE SOUNDS EACH ANIMAL MAKES.

My daughter really likes this book, and has for awhile. She is 17 months. She really enjoys it when I sing "Old MacDonald" and turn the pages of the book. She also likes to sign "bunny" and say "quack quack" to the book.I find the pages to be a bit repetitive, however I think this has helped her learn about bunnies and ducks. I do kind of wish that there were more animals on the pages (perhaps more verses of the song). The very last 2 pages have some other animals on them, but she doesn't really find those animals very interesting. (Those pictures are rather bland).

Cute illustrations of a farmer bunny and his ducks. The farmer keeps a good attitude throughout, even when the ducks are all over him. At the end it has pictures of other farm animals to sing the song with.
