Horrible,
This review is from: Old and New Terrorism (UT - Understanding Terrorism) (Hardcover)
Simple an anthology of older major works on terrorism. Even worse, the bibliography takes up 30% of the book. The author, Peter Neumann, has simply reworded and rehashed some (not even all) the major concepts of terrorism academia. This book is simply a 'hit and miss' attempt to bring something new to the field and it misses miserably.Chapter 1 Introduction Chapter 2 Old and New Terrorism - this chapter is a complete rip-off of Walter Laqueur. Chapter 3 Holy War Inc.? The Emergence Transnational Terror Networks - while this chapter is a rip-off from Brian Jenkins. Chapter 4 From Marx to Mohammed? Religion and Terrorism - for a more thorough study, please refer to Anna Geifman. Chapter 5 Dying to Kill? The Rise of Mass-Casualty Terrorism - complete rip-off of Mia Bloom's works. Chapter 6 Confronting the New Terrorism - please consult Ilan berman. Basically this whole book is a rip-off, and a badly written one at that. |
