5.0 out of 5 stars Military Short Stories at their Best, October 22, 2006
This review is from: The Old Sergeant and Friends (Paperback)
There are some writers that just seem to have no limits to the creative stories that keep pouring out of the cerebral recesses of their very soul--author Steven J. Newton is one of those talented few. His newest book "The Old Sergeant And Friends" is the high energy sequel to his successful first book "The Old Sergeant".

Newton has a way with words and writes some wonderful prose but the power of his stories are their total reflection of his own views, dreams, imagination and outlook on life--all through the fictional life of the old Sergeant. Each story is a delightful adventure into some emotion or idea. The book is "like a box of chocolate candy...you never know what each one will taste like". These stories are original and as fresh as they get. Each story is alive and entertaining. His most moving story deals with a little malnourished Iraqi girl all dressed in rags with tears flowing down her cheeks. It is titled "And A Child Shall Lead Them". Each story contains a different element and energy level. Each one is special and the reader will savor them all from cover to cover.

The book receives the MWSA's highest book rating of FIVE STARS!
