3.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea maybe an extra half, August 5, 2008

This review is from: Old Soldiers (Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles, 2.3) (Audio CD)
My second dip into the Companion chronicles features old favorite the Brigadier as he tells the story of an encounter at a Unit Base in Germany.

The reports of Courtney having an excellent 3rd doctor voice are exaggerated to say the least. Personally the story would have been just as good and maybe better if it was just a question of the Brig saying the doctor said.

The story itself is a pretty solid one of a military experiment gone bad. Toby Longworth plays off the Brig well. His ability to play two parts helps a bit here, but the very format is by its nature limiting.

I can't help but think a 3rd actor on these things would work better but the budget apparently just won't allow it.

This is the 2nd audio along with Minuet in Hell (Doctor Who) both of them turned out to be below what I expected. I hope this is not a trend.

If you are a Doctor Who or Brigadier fanatic you will want this episode, if not then it is miss-able
