This practical guide helps the sermon exegete from a number of excellent angles. For example, the author provides a glimpse at how to arrange the minor prophets with the major prophets in the OT by timeline or by themes for preaching.

I will write more as I dig into this tool. For now, let me say that what I have seen is very helpful and I'm glad I bought a copy.

I am taking Dr. Walton for an Ancient Near Eastern course at Wheaton. I find him to be an excellent teacher. His knowledge of the subject and his style of communication help open up whole new worlds of understanding for the Old Testament. I think anything he has written is probably worth owning if you are a bible teacher or preacher.

The textbook has a lot of background information and stories for those unacquainted with the old testament. For regular Bible readers it might have some new insights and facts but some of the chapters might seem a little too much of a summary. The context facts and concepts of the way the books are structured are interesting, diagrammed, and easy to grasp.

A very good book to study the Old Testament because it not only is describing the written aspects of the bible, but it is also written as a histroy book with all the details and information of how the world was during biblical times.

This book was requested by someone who is doing Theological Studies. As yet they are to be completed.
As Librarian for the Southland Christian Library Invercargill NZ I thought it was a good book to have available to those who are not only studying but also for those who have a deep interest in the Old Testament.

I use this book in a college level Introduction to the Old Testament class. It is easy to read, and solidly Evangelical in its orientation without being too pietistic.

Interesting textbook and informative. The sidebars and extras are a great bonus, and the text itself is quite readable. I recommend it.

The price was much lower than the school book store's price. I would recommend this to any student needing a text book for study.
