I bought this boat about 10 years ago and have loved it. I've taken it across flat water where it tracks very well (with a slight drift to the right, but that may be a posture problem). I've had it on mild river rapids and had fun with it. Manuevers very well in small twisting creeks too. It can get a little swamped in big waves if you don't take them right, but that's a rare problem. It's not super light or super heavy, but feels very solid. There's plenty of room for some extra goodies, I have even taken my son in it with me when he was 4 and under. It's a very simple boat, which I like. Sits in the water nice, easy to get in and out of, but is also failry narrow (28 inches) so I don't bang my knuckles while paddling. Mine is a deep forest green, which it doesn't look like is available any more. Too bad, I like blending in rather than standing out. Only complaint is that it's a bugger to wash out, like all kayaks. The water just runs towards the ends rather than dump out. Small price to pay. Enjoy!

We have 3 111 Loons and we just love them. They track great, there's a lot of room for storage and they're really stable. I can pull my black lab into the cockpit without worrying about flipping. The only thing I don't like are the bright neon colors of the recent release of these boats. Ours are older and they're very subtle red and grey. As a side, I'm looking to buy another older one so let me know if you've got one for sale.

Recently purchased this kayak in the new lime color for 2012 and its awesome.Stable ,comfortable ,light weight and great quality. This kayak is an addition to the ones I already have and its by far my favorite.I'm 6'6" and 210 lbs and the room in this kayak is unbelievable.I can stretch out and be comfortable all day long. For an 11' kayak its set up just right for any height person and has plenty of room to carry a cooler and all your gear. After looking at many different brands and lengths I rented one for the day and was amazed.Old Town is an excellent company and builds quality products. This is now my second Old Town kayak, the other is a tandem otter 14' in length and has been in use for many years and is still in great shape. This kayak compares to the many more expensive 12 or 14 foot kayaks out there but has more room and is far more comfortable and is a few hundred dollars less than those other brands. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed.

Color: Sunrise Verified Purchase
I bought a forest green Loon 111 about 15 years ago. I love it. I will have it forever. I recently moved from NWNJ to Vermont. Left the first boat with a friend in NJ for visits and thought I would buy another boat of the same quality. First of all, the boat I bought is not as pictured, it's a mix of dull orange and yellow (Sunrise). I wanted forest green again but they no longer make it. I am not a bright color person. It is much lighter (they say it is still the 3 wall system), has no inside rails (although there are fittings for rails) so you cannot adjust the seat, the foot adjustments are a much lower quality, and just feels like the same quality is not there all around. Of course it's 15 years or so later and much has been lost everywhere in the last 15 years.
I like the way it handles and it feels like it is not as heavy, as stated previously. All in all I am glad I bought a Loon 111 again. Next time I will probably go to a different company as I am kind of disappointed in Old Town, or what used to be Old Town and now is Johnson Outdoors. I should have done a bit of homework first.
