Old Town started from scratch with the new Saranac family of canoes and, by narrowing the shape and slightly lowering the seats we have developed a model that paddles better than most recreational canoes on the market. The Saranac 146XT features two contoured padded seats with padded seat-backs plus a bench seat perfect for smaller passengers. The bench seat also includes a covered storage compartment. There are a variety of extras including cup holders, rod holders and storage trays designed to add convenience and versatility. The Saranac 146XT is affordable family fun! This canoe is a great buy, it is sturdy and has enough room for two adults and childern or pets. We have not owned a canoe before, and this model is a great starter, the seats make it comfortable and relaxing.
