5.0 out of 5 stars There's "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" to get this CD!
This CD is amazing! Da-idy has been my favorite for what seems like forever. When I saw that he had new material out (in '98)--I had to have it!

He sounds so great--even better (I think) than when he used to hang out in a velvet suit and drive around in a painted bus.

My favorite songs on this CD are "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross", "I Think I Love...

My favorite songs on this CD are "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross", "I Think I Love You", "You Were the One", "Let Her Go", "I Can Feel Your Heartbeat", "I Woke Up In Love This Morning", "(Whatever Happened To)Pece, Love and Happiness", "Sheltered in Your Arms", "Show and Tell", "Ricky's Tune", and No. 11--Whoops, that's all of them! This is one of my favorite Da-idy CD's.

Wouldn't it be nice if Arista would re-issue his old stuff ("Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes", "The Higher They Climb...", "Home Is Where The Heart Is", "Cassidy Live!", "Cherish", "Rock Me Baby", and the stuff previously only released in the U.K.) in their entirety. Instead they take bits and pieces from here and there and slap a name like, "David Cassidy Collection" on it. "Maybe Someday"...

The point is, buy this CD today and enjoy it. He sounds great and still looks adorable!

P.S. If you're in Vegas--please see his new show at the Copa--you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Trick New Dog, February 2, 2000

Thank you David, for keeping our hearts close to yours through your excellent music! This CD is a must for David Cassidy fans and new listeners. Not only are a number of the tracks remixed and reminiscent of the old Partridge days, but the new songs are great material! Timeless for 2000 and the future is David Cassidy!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is not your Parents Partridge Family........., January 27, 2000

Although not a fan of the newer "techno pop" music, this album appeals to a wide base and successfully introduces David to a new generation. I play music in my office constantly, my Administrative Assistant (early 20's) made a rare comment about liking this CD in particular, her favorite song being "I Woke up in Love this Morning". She has no clue about a Partridge Family past and made no association to the original. (also played frequently). David Cassidy has firmly established himself in our hearts and minds - it would be nice to see him get the recognition he has earned as more an artist for the people than the critics. I did miss the contribution from Sue Shifrin which featured her talents in writing and background vocals on an earlier effort. For those like myself who consider the "Dreams are Nothin' More than Wishes" LP the high water mark, you'll enjoy "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" -and-"Sheltered in Your Arms". Like I said, there's something for Everybody here. So C'mon - Get Happy. ; )

4.0 out of 5 stars David Cassidy Shines, January 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Old Trick New Dog (Audio CD)
In Old Trick New Dog, David Cassidy leaves behind the lightweight tunes of the Partridge Family and shines as a truly talented singer. There is a polished, adult feel to this CD. Peace, Love& Happiness and No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross are songs you will have playing in your head for days, but it's the smoldering You Were The One that will keep you playing this CD for years. And be ready for grownup versions of the old Partridge classics. Bravo David. Let's have some more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still and Always a Fan, May 23, 2000

Just coming from his performance in Las Vegas at the Rio, I have to say David has only gotten better. He's grown into his voice, face (so good looking!) and talent. My heart pounded and I had a smile from ear to ear! I have to say I felt like a teenager again! I truly enjoy this CD. I'm 42 years old and remember when the Partridge Family first aired. I've been a fan since I was twelve. His remakes of "I Think I Love You", "I Can Feel Your Heart Beat" & "I Woke Up.." are soulful, sexy, & romantic. Not at all the bubblegum pop they originally were. They have a mature, sexy feel to them. I also enjoyed "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" & "Let Her Go". The lyrics and music are grown-up and just wonderful. When I've played this to friends, they are pleasantly surprised, with a "Wow, that's David Cassidy! " Even my 8-year-old knows the words! To all those long time fans, I think you'll truly enjoy this CD. Give it a try. To the new fans, (20-somethings), I can only say, better late than never! You have to appreciate where this man has been and how far he's come in order to enjoy his music. This CD is very nostalgic and up-to-date at the same time. Bravo David, I Think I Love You!

4.0 out of 5 stars David the Dance Diva?, March 15, 2005
This review is from: Old Trick New Dog (Audio CD)
Having grown up with the Partridge Family and being a David Cassidy fan during the pre-disco years, I guess I'd have to say I have a small soft spot for this brave attempt at a dance disk. Actually I have friends who said the dance version of David's "I Think I love You" did receive air play in the dance clubs when this was released. I have to admit, this is not David's forum but it is no worse than Cher's "Take Me Home" Casablanca LP. It is not downright horrible and truly worth a listen, but it is not my favorite Cassidy project but he does get through this successfully. It may be harder to get now-a-days whereas it was released on David's own shortlived Slamajama label and was sold on QVC with the long sought after "David Cassidy's Partridge Family Favorites". But please don't think this is a waste of time! There is a great tune "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" that is a Cassidy masterpiece and did receive limited airplay. Awesome tune as well as "Peace , Love & Happiness", the beautifully rendered "Sheltered In Your Arms", the funky retro "Show & Tell" and the bassey remade of "Ricky's Tune". I could have done without the disco version of "I Think I Love You" cause they have beaten that tune into the ground. But the price of admission is worth it just for "No Bridge" which is a Cassidy classic!

I'll admit it. My passion for DC goes back to when the first episode of the Partridge Family aired. When I received this album I thought it would be nothing more than a trip down memory lane for an old fan with some fond memories of teenage pop idol love. Upon first listening I immediately liked a couple of songs, and had a real problem with the re-worked "I think I love you" (after all would you give "Let it Be" a reggae or disco beat? a classic is a classic after all!).

However, with each listening, I like it more. No longer a "trip down memory lane" this album looks forward to a new comfortable style David Cassidy. Yes, the breathless sexiness that appealed to me as a teenager is still evident, but the experience of a man who continues to strive on, through the fickle world of show biz shines through. David Cassidy is still a talented performer. You should give serious thought to buying this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think I love you to!, May 25, 2000
This review is from: Old Trick New Dog (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful "grown-up" David Cassidy Album. I have loved David since I was a young girl and listening to this cd just makes me feel good inside. The new version of I think I love you is fantastic and he has alot of new songs that as the other reviewer said will get stuck in your head for days! I saw David in Vegas "at the copa" and it was GREAT!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, June 22, 1999

This review is from: Old Trick New Dog (Audio CD)
This CD is a must-have if you're a Da-idy fan! He sounds better than ever and it's been long overdue! My favorites are "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross" and "You Were the One". The remakes of "the classics" were fantastic!

My only regret is that I've never seen any videos for this CD (and I know there are some) Why do they make videos if they don't get shown? And why doesn't this very talented singer get any airplay? The only "airplay" he gets is the Muzak at the department store where I work.
