One Of A Kind, Sensible Spice Rack...,
By
This review is from: Olde Thompson 16-Jar Orbit Spice Rack (Kitchen)
I own this spice rack and have now for a little over a year. I have to tell you up front that I have always been fascinated by the price of spice racks. Its just seems to be one of those items that you occasionally run into in life that are consistently outrageously priced, and for no discernible reason as to why. This particular Olde Thompson model was actually very reasonably priced as racks go, and in my opinion it is the best, unique, and most functional one I have ever had. First up the rack base is a lazy susan design that spins. A whole new and better animal in my opinion over the wall mounted face front models. (Ever pulled a spice out of a wall mounted model when in a hurry and had the whole thing come down? Won't happen here). The spin on this one is very handy when you have several things going at once and are momentarily held prisoner in front of the stove and need a little more oregano for your signature sauce.. Also, this models standard 3 oz. circular jars are unique and attractive in my opinion. I have not seen another rack with such a round jar design. The jars are well made with stainless steel lids and glass. It is true that the base unit is made of plastic, but I find it not to be either of a cheap feel or flimsy in any way. Indeed, I think it supports the jars quite nicely. And as for any of the jars flying off, unless you plan on practicing your roulette talents with it, you shouldn't have a problem. For me personally, (who loves to cook mind you), this has been a very well thought out, quality spice rack set.
For those of you that like statistics, this rack is up to speed on being a space saver. It is just under 11" tall, and about 9" in diameter. It spins very easily and quietly and I have received many compliments on its unique design. And, it keeps the spices tightly sealed and fresh. The only thing I have found to be a downside to this rack is like all jars with labels, they will fade with handling over time. Not in a couple of months, and not to a point where the names disappear, but they will eventually make you squint. My solution to the problem was to order some replacement labels available here on Amazon, and at the link provided. I have used these particular labels before for other spice jars and they are the best ones available on Amazon in my opinion. Not only are they very clear and easy to replace, but you can also customize your spice collection in favor of what you like and use the most. I recommend buying a set of labels here on Amazon where they are very reasonably priced. And I highly recommend this very handsome and functional spice rack. In my opinion it's very good at what its supposed to do, and does it most handsomely... R.S.V.P. 96-Piece Spice Label Set

I read the other review on this orbit spice rack and almost didn't buy fearing that it was "flimsy" and that the "jars would fall off". I have had no such problem,They are absolutely beautiful! I suppose if you spun it at a fast hard spin they would fly off but it would have to be pretty fast.Yes the stand is made of plastic, but it is sturdy. The lids are nice too they are made well and they come filled and have a sealing lid under the other lid so no spices spill in shipping.I would definitely buy it again, I LOVE mine. I recently purchased this item because we had to take my spice cabinet out of the kitchen due to the purchase of a rather large brushed metal refrigerator that required extra space. I've NEVER liked spice racks and was not happy that I had to get one - especially one I have keep on the counter.
But I have had compliment after compliment on this spice rack from everyone who comes into my kitchen - it's very unique and attractive. Everyone plays with the jars and checks out the spices, opens and smells them...who would do that with a "regular" spice rack??! The spices are fresh, and there is a nice variety of them, some are things I've not used before, but since I have them now, I've been experimenting and my family really likes the variety. The only drawback is that the names engraved in the jar cover are slightly hard to read at a glance as they kind of blend in - I always have to go get my glasses.

This spice rack is so darn cute, the day after i recieved it it put it out on my counter, and my Bf's mom came over, first thing she saw was the rack and asked me where i received it... its got some great spices, i found a recipe for hotwings and was a lil sad when i needed cajun spice, one spin.. and there it was, i was amazed.
others say the jars fall off when you spin the rack.... the only way i'd see the jars falling off was if they spun it too hard or too fast, its not a toy. if you are looking for a spice rack this is the one to get

most of the product is made of flimsy plastic, barely holds up the glass jars.
doesn't hold the jars firmly in place, they fall out when you spin it. flimsy plastic breaks easily. had to send one back becuase it was broken in transit. it's cool looking, but beyond that, way not worth the 50 bucks.

I have been enjoying this spice rack for about 6 or 7 months. It's not only beautiful and atractive it is also very versatile, and seem to me that the glass jars are sturdy enough. I use it very often and the spices are fresh and give a very good flavor to my dishes. The rack revolves smoothly. At first, I thought that the bottles were going to start falling from the rack when revolving, but it hasn't happen to me once in all this months. I'm very happy and grateful that my husband chose this beautiful item as a gift for me. I would like to find some empty bottles exaltly like this ones for the herbs I grow and dry myself. Great product. Milca R. in FL.

This is a great product except for one little thing: a few of the lids do not snap all the way shut. I do not mind, but someone who has bug or humidity issues might want to consider another product.

It looks great, but...,
This review is from: Olde Thompson 16-Jar Orbit Spice Rack (Kitchen)
I received this spice rack as a wedding present, and it looks great on my kitchen counter! But when it comes to functionality, it leaves much to be desired. You cannot fit a teaspoon into the jars, so measuring out spices always turns into a mess. There are also many spices that I would never use, and several that I wish it had, such as garlic, onion, or cayenne... I would not buy this spice rack again.

I love this spice rack it is beautiful and does not take up a whole lot of counter space. I love the glass jars and have yet to have a proplem with them falling off. Very sturdy base. For those of you that need extra jars for your personal favorite spices they can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $1.78 each. Makes a great gift to for someone who loves to cook!!

i received this as a housewarming gift. i love having somthing that takes up so little space and yet packs so much into that space. its plenty sturdy enough and nothing "flys out or throws itself to the floor in pieces" just good old fashioned cooking going on amd everything at my finger tips. i like the shape of the jars and wouldnt coordinating canisters be nice????? wish olde thompson would sell some the names are still on them too but if they rub off ill get labels and stick on the jars come on folks lighten up lately ive seen so much complaining. handle carefully use dont abuse and enjoy .
