So the company says, "we can't sell you a replacement, but we will mail you one for free"... or words to that effect.

I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in using mills instead of shakers.

[...] bucks might seem a bit pricey for a salt/pepper mill, but it's very very worth it.

It's made of thick glass and metal. The grinder is fully steplessly fine-tunable from very fine to really really chunky. The cap that comes with the mill can be used as a catchment when inverting the mill and grinding bulk salt/pepper.

On top of that, the quality of the included salt/pepper (depending on which mill you get) is very good. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a BIG stickler for quality and am constantly disappointed with products these days. I have to tell you that every time I use this grinder, it brings a smile to my face because it's such a good design built with such quality. It reminds me of how household appliances were built 30 years ago when the name of the game was quality and not KMart pricing.

I've owned quite a few salt/pepper mills in the past and this set is by far the best and will most likely last the longest. If you're considering this set, think no more. Just buy it.

I have 3 of these on my table. One for sea salt, one for peppercorns and one for flax seed. The sea salt and peppercorns for better taste and the fax seed for better health. This grinder works wonderfully for all 3 applications.

It is a well made product, a great value for the money and looks great on the table.

The grinder is attractive, works well, and uses a glass jar.

We bought this salt mill when looking for an all-glass variety, of which there are not too many choices. Unfortunatly it was dropped on our tile floor just a week or so after we got it. I found the company doesn't sell the jar individually, but they were super great about solving my issue, and mailed me a replacement jar right away at no charge - not even for shipping!!!

So the company says, "we can't sell you a replacement, but we will mail you one for free"... or words to that effect. I felt it was pretty great of them to handle it this way. I do wish they'd sell replacement jars in case it were to happen again, but what excellent service!

Incidently, in a pinch we found that a typical $1.00 glass salt shaker from the market, has a jar that is threaded the same and would fit fine. wouldn't look so nice and doesn't hold much, but at least it would still be functional.

I recommend this product.

Note:
The salt mill and the pepper mill are not the same. The salt mill has some sort of ceramic-looking grinder and does not grind as fine as the pepper mill (which is chrome). I like my salt and pepper powder fine, so I just bought two pepper mills and filled one with kosher salt. For that reason, I give this product a 3 star rating instead of 4.

Otherwise, the following is my review for the pepper mill...

I had a tough time finding salt and pepper mills that I liked because they fall into a strange gray area in kitchen devices. Most are either cheap-o plastic jobs that look... well, like cheap-o plastic jobs, or they're those 2 foot tall wooden chess piece lookin' things. I just wanted ones that looked nice, were normal sized for a dining table, and didn't require batteries.

This product fit the bill almost perfectly in every way.

Pros:
The mill looks great. The container is glassy instead of plasticy, and the brushed stainless top looks very nice.

The grinder is on the top instead of the bottom, and it has a metal cap to cover it. This means that the loose grinds don't fall out of the bottom and onto your otherwise clean table.

Contrary to the other review, the adjustable grider is perfect. Turn a little plastic knob on the grinder and you get powder fine grinds. At a more course setting you will of course get a mix of some fine and some course grinds, but that's pretty much how every grinder works.

Did I mention that this thing looks and feels great?

Cons:
The mill is just slightly too large for me. (It's about 2 times the size of a regular salt shaker you'd find at any given diner). It's not a big problem at all, but I would have liked it to be just a bit smaller.

I tried a bunch of different grinders of similar construction from other companies for my salt, pepper, cumin seeds and other spices. All of them either broke or gave me a carpatonal syndrome.

This mill is great with all my spices. It is easy to fill, easy to grind. Glass casing doesn't crack like plastic. Stainless steel grinding mechanism works perfectly.

*****This is written 6 month later*******
2 out of 7 grinders I bought - broke. The plastic where the grinding mechanism is attached snapped and now it just rotates freely, not able to produce friction, hence no grinding.

I kept 5 star rating because I still love the grinders and will buy more. When they work, they work well.

I went looking for a glass salt mill- almost all are plastic. This one is very well made-- sturdy, well finished, quality materials. Two reservations. The push-off cap covers the mechanism and is removed for use. It is awkward to remove and quickly gets worse. It is held on with an 0-ring. The 0-ring gets dirty from salt and binds. Removing the 0-ring leaves the cap loose and wobbly. I replaced the 0-ring with a rubber band. Seems to work ok. The mill is intended to stand upright with the mechanism on the top and turned upside down to operate. The mechanism is unattractive. It is black so it always looks dirty with salt. It should have been white. They could have at least used an attractive finial on the coarseness setting screw. Instead a bare common screw sticks up in the center.
