Slapshot,

Some dumb reviewer wrote some [stuff] about how this was revivalist hardcore. Choke has been there from the begining in bands Last Rights and Negative FX. Slapshot has always had a revolving band list and Choke has always been there so obviously the band is chokes more than an original lineup. On top of that Slapshot didn't ever go away. They might have put out a couple less then steller albums but they have always been around. Also the members of Slapshot have always included top people from the early scene including members of SSD and DYS. You cant get anymore true and oldschool than that. I also think that there newer sounds as heard on 16 valve hate and Olde Tyme Hardcore and the new best of (featuring many old songs re-recorded) is extremely strong and this band has a lot to offer. It's too bad so many people in the HC scene today are PC crybabies...it doesent get any better than this.

Not their best...but it's still Slapshot,

This review is from: Oldetyme Hardcore (Audio CD)
They've always been one of those bands you either love or you hate, but as always on Olde Tyme Hardcore, they pull no punches and give it to you like they see it, end of story. While this album represents their long-awaited return to their true roots, even the name is outright mocking the "Old School" revival with its Olde English spelling. Choke's still here, for good or bad. He's still as raw and angry as ever, but on the whole, this album is still just another rehashing of mid-80's hardcore. I say pick up 16 Valve Hate first if you want new Slapshot, otherwise, stick to their classics. I'll give it 4 stars anyway, because no one does it like this anymore, which should still be worth something to true Slapshot fans and us old-timers alike.
