Great product, once you learn how to use it,
By
This review is from: Oliso FF-500 Frisper Freshkeeper Vacuum Sealer with Reusable Bags (Kitchen)
You'd really hope that a product like this would "just work." It seemed simple enough to start - line up the circles, close and let go. Yet in my first 10 attempts I only got it to work maybe 3 times. I was getting pretty annoyed by this point, so I talked with their support and found out all the things I was doing wrong. Basically to get it to work correctly I needed to put the bag smooth-side up, horizontally-oriented (I tried the corner circle a few times by putting the bag in diagonally - which apparently didn't cover a hole that it needs to to trigger the vacuum), watch for wrinkles near the air hole that might impede the suction (if there are some, pull them straight).
Now that I know what I'm doing I'm actually pretty happy with it! It's very compact, the ziploc-style bags are heavy-duty and reusable, and the vacuum seals are holding well. Overall, I'm giving it four stars because although it really is a great product, there are too many opportunities for users to make mistakes.

Read the Manual and Reap the Benefits,

I bought a Frisper about three months ago. I like it, use it very often, and am finding it to be very versatile, and more than just a gadget.
BAGS The bags that came with it are just fine when you learn to seal them properly. Being used to ordinary zip locks, I realized I was not following the instruction manual. Once you do, it is easy to use and seals last a long time. I have some items in my freezer that have been sealed over two months and the vacuum is still holding up. What I found better than the ordinary bags are upright bags that I ordered from the company directly. These bags are great because they are reusable. The company says 10 times per bag, but I have used the same bag for the last month or so, sealing it daily after I take out coffee beans from it every morning. Unless you are doing something strange to the bags, I see no reason why it cannot work for a long time. The ordinary bags have markers for the number of times you can use them. Don't be fooled! You can use them more than they say. Just seal in a spot close to the marked circles. Depending on what I am sealing, I have used a bag 15 to 18 times. APPLIANCE Read the manual. I have blenders and mixers and don't need to read instruction every time I buy one. With this, you need to follow basic rules (touch and release -don't hold down). Read it, follow the directions, and you'll be fine. After three months and daily use (coffee), it is trouble free so far. OTHER PRODUCTS USED About 10 years ago I received a FoodSaver as a gift. It was great, but because it has a massive "counter footprint", within weeks it ended up in the garage where it remains. Also, the bags, you had to keep cutting shorter and shorter. Positives: it had a jar sealer and hard containers (optional, I did not have). Not me directly, but my brother bought the Reynolds Handi Vac. We have compared notes, and really, he should write his own review, but my view is you get what you pay for. And, I figure if you use the Handi Vac as often as I use a Frisper, I would more than pay the difference in price annually just for the Handi Vac's batteries, not to mention the waste batteries create. Also, if you think the Frisper is tricky to use, try the Handi Vac. The Handi Vac does a poor job of keeping a vacuum seal. Air leaks in. My brother's is not being used. REVIEW RISK This is how I see the reviews: when people don't like something, often they are quick to write a bad review. When people buy something and enjoy the first experience, they rush to right a positive review. I waited three months to write this. Ideally, I should write again if my view changes in six months or os. OTHER USES * I have sealed silver coins in the bags. No air means no tarnish. * Try marinating anything. I use a bowl I insert into the bag, lay it flat on the counter, and seal. That way the fluids don't get sucked out. * I sealed the instructions that came with our camping tent. I placed it on a cardboard, and sealed it. SUMMARY The perfect vacuum sealer, it is not. I am not sure there ever will be one that is this small, this powerful, with versatile and reusable bags. It is better than other products I have used, or seen used (Handi Vac). Until such day, or my experience changes, full five stars. Pros: * Small * Easy to use after reading instructions * No batteries to waste/replace * Reusable bags (more than they would let you know) Cons: * No wine sealer * No jar sealer * No large bags (eg. Two gallons) Future Enhancements: Make it rechargeable and address the Cons. If I were redoing my kitchen, I'd want that is built-in, under the counter, with a suction hose outlet very much like an electric outlet, near the sink -central vac!

I read the previous reviews after I bought this and was concerned I might have similar problems, but quite the contrary. I've found that if you follow the instructions, the Frisper works great!
I highly recommend it.

Frisper really works!!,
This review is from: Oliso FF-500 Frisper Freshkeeper Vacuum Sealer with Reusable Bags (Kitchen)
Contrary to a lot of these reviews, I have a Frisper and find it to work just fine. In fact, it's one of the easiest appliances I have in my abundant collection. Close the bag tightly, line up the bag in the ppropriately marked spot, press down lightly - the bag seals in no time, and indicates when it's complete.
I've sealed a great number of fruits, vegetables, cheese, dried goods. I've only had a problem once or twice, in which instance I realized that there was an obstruction in the bag's zipper. After the problem was fixed it worked just fine. This product is cheap, small, and very handy to have around. I'll be happy with my Frisper for years to come. These engineers are genius!

Thoroughly disappointed by this product.
Sure the air gets sucked out and it appears to have a seal, but give it a day or two and the seal is gone. Freezer? Don't even think about it. Fridge? Nope, 1-2 days and it's no longer sealed. I've tried everything: cheese, salami, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, raw meat, chicken, etc... And with the meat, it'll suck the juices right out the bottom of the unit so be careful with that one! Not one item held well or for a period longer than a few days.

this little gadget really does do what they claim. For me it was the answer to single meals saved for another day without feeling like I was relegated to leftovers, or more costly pre frozen meals. simple to use, just lign up the maked circles on the bags with the orange circle on the gadget and close. It opens automatically when it's done. I always enjoyed cooking but even shopping for one can be frustrating. I did without my own cooking for years not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars and giving up even more counter space to yet another large appliance. It's hardly worth laboring over osso bucco for one night, and after three, it's no longer a favorite meal, for at least six months. My Frisper lives comfortably in my food wrap drawer, ready when I need it. prop the bags in a bowl before filling to catch any spills, and it's easier to keep the unused part of the bag clean if it's standing up. One great feature is you can store two portions and use one and reseal in the same bag. all in all a keeper. glad I got it. so cute you'll want to name it.

The idea using a zip loc type bag that you can vacuum out the air, reuse, and vacuum seal again is brilliant! I could only get the vacuum sealer to work correctly 2 out 10 times. The problem is it seals off the hole before it can create a vacuum. I really wanted this thing to work, so I'll try it some more. It looks good, and seems like quality stuff, but it doesn't work!! Everyone one else in my family has given up on it.
Ok second effort with Oliso Frisper. The way to improve the percentage of good seals... is to improve your tactile feel that's needed for the lid. You can't push the lid down hard, use just enough pressure to puncture the bag and then the vacuum will start being pulled. 2.5 Stars

I recently received my Frisper and I found it to be contrary to the average review here. The first thing I noticed was its tiny size which neatly fits atop my kitchen counter. Tracking down something i could quickly "frisp" I chose to ignore the instruction manual and instead followed a brief but concise instructional video on youtube. Threw in some vegetables and a minute later I had a vacuumed seal celery. A couple things to note, the bags are pretty awesome, the zip lock features works very well and even sticking a meal and poaching the bag works out nicely. On the rare occasion of an incomplete seal the manual has explicit instructions on how to correct it and even indicates with diagrams on diagnosing if your seal was done incorrectly. The one thing that did i found to be slightly frustrating is that for liquidy products you have to be much more careful with the seal placing. Hope this review helped.

Works great and doesn't hog kitchen space,
This review is from: Oliso FF-500 Frisper Freshkeeper Vacuum Sealer with Reusable Bags (Kitchen)
After being disappointed by a Reynolds Handi-Vac, which constantly failed to hold a seal, I was ready to part with big bucks and a great deal of kitchen counter space for a Foodsaver. Then I spotted the Oliso Frisper. I have owned an Oliso Auto-Lift steam iron for over a year and it's been great, so I had no trepidations about getting a Frisper. Frisper has the advantage of pre-formed, recloseable bags, takes up very little space and performs like a champ. Just be sure that the zipper is completely sealed before you start the vacuum. The instruction booklet even provides instructions for fixing a bag if you have accidentally messed up the seal. Operation is quick and easy and the best part is that the contents of my refrigerator look like food... not a science experiment.

So easy to use, doesn't take up lots of space, which is great for my small kitchen, and I've never had a problem with getting a seal whether it's the first or 8th time using the bags.
