Be an olive oil snob,

This review is from: Olive Harvest (Hardcover)
Continuing on with Carol's escapades in Provence, you feel as if she is family. After reading her olive triology I would pass up the chance to visit Paris for a weekend in Provence. I enjoyed olive oil before, now I want to drink it up, taste and smell the differences. Olive oil is the liquid gold flowing through the olive series!

Cheers To The Olive Harvest!,
By Bettye Johnson (Pacific Northwest) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Olive Harvest (Paperback)
I love Drinkwater's ability to bring the reader into the realities of growing olives, her relationship with Michel and above all, Provencal and the Mediterranean atmosphere. Her descriptive ability is superb and I felt like I was there with her as she went through the trials and tribulations of living in Provencal while her husband was going through his own dark night of the soul. Drinkwater's book is highly recommended for those who love the south of France and especially Provencal. I learned also about the art of growing olives and the pressing of olives into oil. By Roger Jones (Texas) - See all my reviews

I got hooked on Provence books through Peter Mayle and this tome is very similiar in style and substance. You may remember the author from her role in All Creatures Great and Small. I highly recommend.

this is a wonderful reality story, that takes you to the fields, and the kitchen ,to taste the rich oils from the garden, it also puts you into the minds of the people that are involved with living the wonderful, and down to earth life, as only you can in provence. the scenery is beautiful, the house and the written words come to life, it's as if you are there, living it. the story brings to mind, in all of us, in trying to escape into the authors world , to be able to experience the same as ms. drinkwater and her family have. a wonderful book, well written, as all her other books, on the olive harvests, and her farm. a good read, on any day. i can hardly wait for the next book to come out. i look forward to another good escape read.

Carol Drinkwater holds nothing back in the way of emotions in her Olive series. You feel as if you are there with her on her journey, and she draws you into her life. This is not only a travel book; it's a walk with a friend through life's joys and trials.

An interesting life after the All Creatures Show. A lot of challenges after making the TV series. I can't say much to the guy she went with.

A Celebration of Olives,

I have enjoyed Carol Drinkwater's well written memoirs and incredibly honest revelation of her journey and heartbreak. What really annoyed me was the re-release of previous novels under a new name. I purchased what I thought was a new book only to find it is a rebranded compendium of her previous first two books. That surely is misadvertising!
