Valuable Book,

This review is from: Oliver Has Something to Say! (Hardcover)
My wife and I got this book from the library. We really enjoyed and could relate to it. Our second child, who has minor speech issues, was continually cut off by his older sister and others at times (similar to what occurs in the book). The book advocates listening to children and allowing them to expresss themselves. A funny and cute read.

Poor Oliver...can't get a word in edgewise. He's a cute little guy, but add this book to the growing pile of children's books that are preaching the same (silly) message: teachers are the only people who can listen - really listen - to your children, and guide them along the path to self-expression, self-actualization, and all the other "-self"s that our kids apparently need.
I think this book was written as a warning to parents: once your kids get into the hands of the public education system, they're going to turn into monsters. Do not buy. |
