5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, funny and exciting, July 18, 2007

I actually disagree with the other reviewer. I'm almost finished with the audiobook and I didn't think it was set almost entirely in the USA. Olivia does visit the USA but then goes to Honduras and the Sudan.

I also did not have a problem with the narrator's American accents.
In fact, I loved the narrator's voice and thought she did a wonderful job.

This is a really fun book, filled with humor and excitement. I have recommended it to all of my friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Buy the book -- reader is distracting, January 16, 2007

This is a really fun, engaging book and I enjoyed the story a lot. In my opinion, Helen Fielding lives up to her terrific reputation with this one. What I absolutely do not like is the reader's American accents. She has a beautiful voice and does a stellar job with the narrative text and British accents, but her American accents are stilted and unrealistic. It's as if she's forcing them so much that they lack the fluidity of natural language. It makes the characters suffer because they all sound nasal and artificial. Dreadful, really. Since the story is set almost entirely in America, this is a big, big problem.
