This review is from: Olivia Kidney Stops for No One (Mass Market Paperback)
My daughter loves the Oliva Kidney series, so I purchase this book to expand her collection. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I received it and noticed on the cover the note that it was previously published as Olivia Kidney and the Exit Academy - the book she just finished reading! The picture online is too small to see this detail unless you click on it for the larger version. My very glass-half-full daughter was not upset, however, and will give it to her best friend as a gift. Coming from a book fanatic family, she knows there are plenty more Olivia Kidney stories in her near future... Still, this is not the first time they have published with a new cover, but an entirely new title too? Why? None the less, a great book. I've submitted the request for Amazon to note it better in their title, so perhaps this review will be outdated soon. :)

Misleading title change,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Olivia Kidney Stops for No One (Library Binding)
This book is actually Olivia Kidney and the Exit Academy with a new cover. I am a children's librarian and I have a particular little girl who loves this series. I was very upset to finally get this "new" title only to find that it is a title that we already have, and my special patron has already read. She did enjoy it the first time, but I gave this one a low rating because I felt the renaming was very misleading and confusing and disappointing.

Misrepresented: Retitled Book II,
By Bridgetown Mom (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Olivia Kidney Stops for No One (Mass Market Paperback)
I just returned from the library only to find I had checked out two copies of the same book for my daughter. As previous reviewers have stated, Olivia Kidney Stops for No One is the retitled Book II in the series. Furthermore, the illustrations are no longer done by the fabulous Peter H. Reynolds, nor is the cover art. In Book III, Olivia Kidney and the Secret Beneath the City, not only is Mr. Reynolds not the illustrator, but also there are no illustrations at all. One has to wonder what on earth the publisher is thinking: there is no loyalty like that of young readers, and they don't take kindly to having their favorite series' format completely changed mid-stream. There has to be a more honest and logical way to boost sales of this amazing series. Having seen Mr. Reynolds post reviews elsewhere on Amazon, I wonder if he might like to shed a bit of light on this situation.

Great read for kids and the young at heart,
This review is from: Olivia Kidney Stops for No One (Kindle Edition)
I originally started this series when i was given a copy of the first book. In my attempt to make my 6 year old daughter an avid reader like myself I decided to make the our daily book read.
While reading the first book to my daughter I found myself growing fond of this quirky, special and intelligent chracter named Olivia. I actually found myself reading the book on my own so i could finish the story without having to wait to read it section by section with my daughter. Once I finished i bought the other three books and read them as well. These books my be for the young but it is truly a great read for the young at heart. You will be drawn to each character and every crazy mystery and situation that Oliva finds herself in. These are a delightfully fun and quick read that will transport you back to the days of your youth. making you wish you were right there with Olivia living the adventure. if you have kids, perhaps older the 6 I would definitly get this and read it with them. The one thing that is better than enjoying a good book is enjoying one with your kids! |
