This Australian collection brings together more than just "Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits" it gives us some of her best recordings spanning from 1975-1977. Some songs like "Have You Never Been Mellow" (#1 in the US), "Please Mr. Please" (#3 in the US) and "Sam" (#1 A/C hit in the US)are well-known hits that most everyone is familiar with. But this CD provides some jewels that may not have been big hits, but are musical treasures. "Changes", which was written by Olivia illustrates the pain of divorce on parents with a young child. Olivia's cover of "The Air That I Breathe" is hauntingly beautiful as is "Love Song." One of her best moments on record is "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" from 1977. Olivia delivers it with great confidence and heart which won over many critics who had up to this point taken great pleasure in dissing her music. Other classic tracks include Olivia's take on Dolly Parton's "Jolene", "Come On Over" which was written by the Bee-Gees, "Something Better To Do" a light-hearted look at lonliness and many more. This album was origianly released at the end of 1977 and serves as a cap on her early country career since she will take a bold new direction the following summer in the movie "Grease." If you buy this title I also recommend "First Impressions- Great Hits" [IMPORT] to get the early hits like "Let Me Be There" and "I Honestly Love You" as well as "Olivia's Greatest Hits Volume 3 [IMPORT] for the huge pop hits like "Xanadu" and "Physical" With these three CD, you'll have a complete collection of the BEST OF OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN

I bought this CD a couple years ago in Ireland. It's not available in this form in the US. It's a combination of the U.S. LP release "Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits" and some other excellent tracks from other early albums.

The track list is: 1. Changes, 2. Every Face Tells A Story, 3. Let It Shine, 4. Come On Over, 5. Love Song, 6. Have You Never Been Mellow, 7. Don't Cry For Me Argentina, 8. Please Mr. Please, 9. Something Better To Do, 10. Jolene, 11. The Air That I Breathe, 12. Don't Stop Believin', 13. Making A Good Thing Better, 14. Sam.

Great voice and a great beauty. Been in love with her since I was eight years old when I first heard "Please Mr. Please".

It's probably because I'm an old foggy, but you don't find a voice like Olivia nowadays with all the hip-hop, Disney kids and Fox "stars" being pushed at us.

If you like Norah Jones' first album, you'll like this one too.

En este CD se han reunido algunos de los temas más conocidos de Olivia Newton-John, además de otros que aun sin haber sido tan ubicuos, lograron un lugar destacado en su discografía, lo que se agradece. Incluso para mi y a pesar de constituir el volumen 2 lo prefiero por sobre el volumen 1, aunque eso es solo una opinión personal. Creo que su versión de "Jolene" y de "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" son excelentes y destacan tanto o más que las originales. En suma buenas canciones, una hermosa voz, y como dije; para mi, una compra segura.

I am looking for a song by Olivia Newton John wherein the words "seventeen" appear. What is he title of the song? Thanks.

I had to write this review cause I have found this cd to be stimulating and easy going. The cd gives an excellent assortment of her greatest hits. I always enjoyed Olivia's voice, she sings with passion. The European release and the U.S. release are the same with the exception of the 1st and 2nd song being switched around. If that was accidental or intentional, we will never know.
