This review is from: Olympia OL2430LP 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Tango Dancing Lights and Caller ID (Purple) (Office Product)
This phone is not your typical plug it in and talk variety, although you can do that... but with caller ID features, dancing lights and other alerts, it is a pretty amazing phone with great sound clarity. The manual with it is slim but reading it is necessary to understand all of the phone's features. (...) The memory presets are great and having a log of caller IDs is excellent. I really like the fact that its lights dance each time I connect to the internet on dialup since it is on the same line, giving me confirmation that I am connected. This feature is not mentioned anywhere. Since it comes with several faceplates, one can change the top half of the face to suit needs. The stand is small and fits nicely on a desktop although the stand support does not fit well and can fall off if moved. The lit LCD screen when needed is easy to read and provides much information. I also like the message waiting indicator that tells me that I have a call on the phone company's answering service. The call timer is very cool and useful as well, since I do have calls for which I charge per minute. The only negative, other than the flimsy stand that can fall off if the phone is moved, is the fact that it has no headset connection option. That factor reduced the rating by one star. Overall a winner.

Cool looking, can't set time, lousy quality,

Okay...i'll admit I was sold by the translucent tangerine faceplate and the blinky lights. I was also sold by the fact that I could actually turn off the ringer (somthing not found in most of the cheap models). The price is right...it's cheap and "disposable". So...it does the job and earns some stars. What the phone doesn't do is why I it only gets 2 stars. Sure, you can set up options and language, BUT YOU CANNOT SET THE TIME!!! Stupid. Waiting for a callerID call to set the time by is just silliness that is NOT explained in the manual. Duh. The sound quality is tin-box and the range is sub-standard. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE IF YOU HAVE A WI-FI BASE STATION. Seriously...i could hear the "tick-tick-tick" background noise of my router over this phone. They are on the same frequency and simply do not play well together. Oh well....it's good enouh to throw in my garage and use as a spare just in case.

"Caveat Emptor," whined the phone.,
This review is from: Olympia OL2430LP 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Tango Dancing Lights and Caller ID (Purple) (Office Product)
This phone's best feature is its price. If cost is your primary concern, this phone is for you. I mean, it's an acceptable phone. Everything works. Just barely, though.Feels cheap: Not surprisingly so, but it may leave you feeling that maybe you should have spent more money on something a little more substantial and longer-lasting. The handset feels too light and flimsy in your hand. Voice quality is so-so at best: The sound is tinny, with the occasional feedback squeal. This is not the phone for long conversations. A lot of annoying little details: The ringer volume can't be adjusted. Each incoming call gets Caller ID'd and sets off a blinking red light at the base of the handset antenna. The instruction manual is anemic. (e.g. the user is left on their own to figure out that it automatically sets its internal clock when it gets its first Caller ID-able call) The interface is quirky, requiring you to use the "*" and "#" keys to page through its Caller ID log. Not a bad phone for the money, but sadly, this is the 2.4GHz equivalent of those cheap 99-cent disposable lighters you see at the corner market store.
