This sounds like a good tool to use in circumstances where a socket handle would have a tough time fitting the space, and in a pinch and perfect circumstances that might be right, but there are too many design flaws for it to do the job the designers think it will do.

The idea is that this tool will "open and close" over hex head bolts, replacing all your sockets, and will point straight down into narrow space where you can't use a socket set with a handle. Here is what REALLY happens:

1. The oddly shaped opening will not grasp screws or bolts with smaller heads at all. Scratch at LEAST half of the 14 sizes it claims to handle.

2. It will only fit up to 1/2" bolts. Scratch any larger jobs you thought it might be nice to use it's unusual torque action for.

3. Even for Goldilocks set of sizes it will actually fit, it doesn't really clamp them tightly enough, since it just closes down and doesn't really lock securely to the size. Part of the problem here is the manner in which the business end opens and closes. Since it breaks open from the middle, it leaves two of the six sides of a hex head without any contact with the socket. That leads to a loose fit.

4. For really small spaces, this is neither narrow enough nor long enough to be of universal utility. For many jobs, you're still going to need narrower and/or longer drive extensions.

5. Frankly, where socket handles fit, I'd MUCH RATHER use a normal socket wrench with a handle. Why? Because the ergonomics of this handle cause the torque to come from my elbow. With a normal socket handle, the torque comes from my shoulder. I found my elbow experiencing some pain after just a brief use of this tool. For my own use, this is the most compelling reason to not use the tool.

6.

Works well if you have plenty of headroom on the nuts of the sizes that fit. It's easy to use and feels sturdy, yet is lightweight and small enough to keep in my emergency "grab and go" toolbox.

Unfortunately not all of the nuts and bolts in the world have plenty of headroom, a more spanner- or wrench-style design is needed for many applications. So, while the turbo driver isn't useful on all sizes, it works very well for the ones that it fits.

The Olympia Tools 76-408 Turbo Driver is one of those products that makes one think "why didn't anyone think of this before?" It's a brilliant design that fits a wide variety of nuts in one handy to carry tool. Amazing!

The Olympia Tolls 76-408 Turbo Driver is a neat tool. It is a T shaped handle with a button in the handle. Pressing the button retracts the tip back so you can slip it over nuts, bolts, etc. Then you just twist it like a cork screw. I do like that you can twist the red ring in the middle to have ratcheting action in either direction or twist to its center position for no ratcheting action. I would not use this for large or difficult jobs for for something quick - like bolting the legs to a small table - it is a pretty decent item.

I really like this tool, but have found that it has limited uses. Just like most ratchet/wrench replacement systems, they offer flexibility as far as finding the right size, but when confronted with a tight or awkward situation, or if the bolt is beyond a certain length, you find yourself going back to the simple wrench. Having said that, if the situation allows the right angle and such, this driver is super easy and eliminates finding the right size wrench or socket. Changing direction and size is so easy it's shocking. I would recommend this for anyone facing a project with lots of straight forward driving. But don't really think this tool will replace your wrench and socket sets.

There's nothing like getting a new tool, then walking around the house and garage with it looking for a place to use it! Seriously though, there is a place for T-handled tools, and unlike my set of T-handled hex keys, this one does the job of many but only takes up the space of one. While this really isn't a replacement for a good socket set, it does get into some tighter spaces where you would have to use a nut driver -which it does replace quite well. It is much easier to torque in some larger bolt heads (recessed or not) with this than with a comparable sized nut driver, and you are less likely to rap your knuckles while doing it. It holds tight on the bolt head (or nut if there isn't too much bolt sticking out of it), and the ratcheting head makes it easier than regripping the handle every turn. I think I would stick to using a good socket set for breaking loose rusted bolts, but I wouldn't use a nut driver in that situation either. It works well and has it's place in the tool box or junk drawer next to the multi-bit screwdriver and adjustable pliers.

This tool is a functional ratcheting T-handle. It seems to grip the bolt or nut fastener of your choice adequately well for tightening or loosening. Ratcheting mechanism works well and is smooth. Perfect tool for your junk drawer in the house. That tends to be where it gets the most use, at home; since most home fasteners you'd deal with will be from 1/4 to 1/2.

I did try to take it to work (i work on motorcycles) and found it completely useless there. 90% of the time, whenever i did manage to (finally) find something to use it on; it seemed it was absolutely always smaller than the size i needed. I found it to be outside my range of usefulness at work.

This tool, i think, would have been more useful if it had more of a range of fasteners that it worked with (gator grip, or some such thing) id be more enthusiastic about it. I might have been more thrilled with it if i could have used it in some useful manner as a racheting T-handle in conjunction with tools i already own.

For me, i didn't think this was too handy of a tool- but it was a functional tool for around the house, basic stuff. It will make a nice friend for your 27-tipped wratcheting screw driver.
