From Library Journal
This work encompasses all Olympic track and field performances since the resumption of the Games in 1896. Listed are the individual records of every competitor, their country, event, results in preliminary rounds, final finish, and medals won. Entries are arranged alphabetically by competitor rather than by event, a feature researchers may find limiting. The book is impressively detailed yet narrower in scope than Peter Matthews's Track and Field Athletics ( LJ 9/1/86), which concentrates on world records, including events outside the Olympics. For ready reference purposes, David Wallechinsky's The Complete Book of the Olympics ( LJ 4/15/84) remains the most accommodating resource.
