One of the best books I have ever read. Although the book talks a lot about sports psychology coaching the lesson taught in this book can be applied to business and life in general. She teaches you how to reach your peak performance in everything you do. Dr. JoAnn Dahlkoetter shows you a trusted method for high level performance. I recommend this book for anyone interested in improving in all areas of life."

5.0 out of 5 stars Olympic Thinking is Olympic Reading! July 2, 2012

Olympic Thinking is a true pleasure to read. It offers visualization and verbal tools that everyone can use for peak performance in sports and in life. It talks about the ways in which our perception of reality actually helps to shapes our reality (don't we all know this to be true?). Then Dr. JoAnn gives us specific tools we can use to move toward the reality we want...in sports or in life. You can learn how to gain confidence, how to relax, or how move from a negative state to a positive state and so many more mental and physical states we'd like to have.

Dr. JoAnn also discusses the importance of coaches being able to differentiate between winning at all costs and developing character in athletes. Once again, this is a lesson that people in all walks of life would benefit from - the bad behavior of so many people with "power" comes to mind.

In a world full of hype and dishonesty, this book is the real deal.

This book offers the type of information that allows you to apply the concepts of sports psychology outside of the contolled environment of highly competitive athletics. A great handbook for managing development and change.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but like a big teaser ad October 26, 2012

The content in this book is quite interesting and useful. The problem is that it`s quite thin on content, with the whole book feeling like a teaser for the author`s premium consulting services. On many pages the author`s website address and title take up a quarter or a third of the page, there`s a whole section with a survey for potential consulting clients, and the content always seems cut short - giving you just a brief overview of the concept without much depth. Intentionally leaving you wanting more rather than giving up the goods?

If you have bought information products from people`s websites before, you`ll notice that this book is the equivalent of a free ebook that people give away to get you to sign up for their mailing lists. In this case it`s bait to get you visiting the website and thinking about consulting. It feels like a bit of a ripoff to pay for a book that functions as an ad for premium services. I wouldn`t be surprised if the book was actually available for free as list bait somewhere, with a price tag being added to the kindle book.

With that said, the content is beneficial and I am learning some useful things from it.
