Stop and notice the difference between icky sound and quality sound. Then do something about it. This mic is an inexpensive first step.

I use it for video reviews. A $100 "LDC" desk mic might be better, but I like this solution. You don't have to worry about: Turning your head away from the mic. Pop filters. Breath noise. Stands. Isolation mounts. Phantom voltage.

This "lavalier" style mic is typically plugged into a wireless system such as the Azden WMS-PRO Wireless Microphone System. But since I'm always recording from about 10 feet away, I prefer direct wiring. I use the very heavy duty Monoprice 15ft Premium 3.5mm Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Female 22AWG Extension Cable (Gold Plated) - Black.

The owner manual warns: "Do not use this microphone with any recorder that cannot supply power to an external microphone. If you are using this microphone with a recorder not made by Olympus, we cannot guarantee the specified sensitivity." Well, it would be nice if that was disclosed in the product description before purchase.

I'll guess they are not talking about the "48 volt phantom power" that larger condenser microphones require. I plugged this into the "Mic" input on my PC's sound card. It seemed to work fine after I set the Realtek Audio Manager's "Microphone Boost" to +10 dB. I don't know if it's working below par, but it seems to work pretty well (See video.)

It works fine with my Olympus WS-802 Voice Recorder.

It does NOT work with my Canon HF-M500 camcorder (directly connected).

I purchased this mircrophone with the Olympus WS-331 Digital Voice Recorder. The WS-331 is a great recorder, and the use of the external microphone makes it even better. I can simply clip the microphone to my lapel and it picks up my voice easily. The quality of recording is improved simply because I am not trying to hold the recorder steady in front of my while I dictate.

One of the best things about this microphone is that the connecting wire allows me to leave the recorder on my belt while keeping the microphone on my lapel. I've used this to record lectures for my students, and the quality of the recording is very good.

This made my digital voice recorder 10x better, it picked up the sound much clearer and from farther away. I use this for college and so sometimes i sit in the back and sometimes in the front but i couldn't use my Digital Voice recorder w/o this. Highly Recommened

I use this microphone with an Olympus WS-320M digital recorder. I am a Pastor/Evangelist and I use this combination to record my sermons when I am preaching away from my home church. In addition, I use it to record my lectures at the Bible college where I teach.

This microphone provides much better sound reproduction than the built in mics on the digital recorder. I can achieve some pretty decent recordings using this product.

This is a very nice microphone. It really improves the quality of the sound especially when you don't want to show your recorder, you just plug in the microphone, put the recorder in your bag and just let the microphone outside to do its job. It comes with a clip that you can use for example to put the recorder in your pocket and attach the microphone to your shirt.

Inexpensive, very functional. Increases the sound quality of my personal digital voice recorder. Only problem is you get mono sound, which actually tends to work better for many spoken word recordings. Not what you want for music, but lectures recorded in stereo get distracting as the speaker moves from one channel to the next. If you want a good small stereo mike, check out the Olympus ME-51S. It will be about twice the price though.

This is a great little microphone for the price. The sound quality is great and it has performed for us every Sunday without a hitch. We use this with the Olympus WS-320M and the two together produce a quality recording unmatched at this price point. My only complaints? The clip is a bit oversized and I wish it came with a windscreen.
