Product Description

Converter for attaching adapter lenses and filters to the Olympus TG-1 and future generation cameras.

Customer Reviews

It fits perfectly and includes a lens cap.

It makes it very easy to carry the camera one-handed, by scissoring the lens hood with your fingers.

Better yet the camera (which I really like) should have been designed to handle the other lenses.

I was surprised when I opened this package. Olympus created a top notch TOUGH camera and makes a plastic attachment ring for the expansion lenses????

I am very concerned about the durability. This ring should have been aluminum throughout for durability and length of use.

It does do a nice job of attaching the expansion lens but I did notice water leakage into the area between the lens and the camera. It did not affect the quality of the pictures we took.

7/27 update - well the camera has been subjected to lots of tests from both expansion lenses in lots of regular environments and it does seem to be durable. I have not submitted it to a drop test and dont plan to for the cost of the ring!

If you own either the TG-1 or TG-2, then you really need this adapter. If for nothing else, the ability to add a UV filter to protect the lens. Comes with a lens cap, so don't order another!

I bought a fisheye lens for the Olympus TG-2 TOUGH camera and realized I needed to purchase the Olympus CLA-T01 Conversion Lens Adapter to be able to screw it onto the camera. The fit is pleasingly tight, but that also means that when you simply want to swap off the fisheye lens, and probably any other lens, and return to normal point & shoot mode, sometimes the entire housing - the fisheye lens and the lens adapter - will unscrew together, so then you'll need to unscrew the two of them to put the lens adapter back on. The nice thing about the lens adapter is that it comes with a lens cap, whereas the TG-2 I have has no lens cap, meaning the lens is always exposed to the elements. So the adapter has its uses simply being affixed to the front of your TG-2.

This adapter ring bayonets in place, will accept 40.5mm filters and includes an Olympus lens cap, all of which make this a useful item, whether or not one gets the converter lens. FYI, if using the converter, remove any attached filter as it will vignette with a filter in place.

There is an all black 3rd party knock-off of this product available, and I own both (purchased through Amazon.com). I use them with my Olympus TG-3, with telephoto and fisheye conversion lenses. In addition, I have one attached to a 40.5mm B+W circular polarizer and lens hood (to prevent lens flare), and a fourth attached to a 40.5mm UV filter (which I use primarily for lens protection when I don't have one of the other attachments on the camera.

I have two of these Olympus CLA-T01 adapters, and two of the of JJC RN-T01 adapters. They both work fine for attaching accessories to cameras that are compatible with these attachments (Olympus TG-1, TG-2, TG-3). I prefer the red banded OEM product, only because is has a more solid click into the detent. The JJC product's detent tab is not as long, so it can come off the camera more easily. For this reason, I use the OEM adapters on my two expensive attachment lenses (the TCON-T01 Teleconverter & the FCON-T01 Fisheye converter). The OEM product is currently 39% more expensive ($18 vs $11), but for me the more solid connection is worth the cost difference. I may eventually replace my two JJC adapters with two more Olympus adapters.

In case you're interested, here are links to the JJC RN-T01 adapter, Olympus converter lenses and the metal lens hoods I use with my circular polarizers (I have a circular polarizer & hood on my teleconverter lens attachment as well):

I just got it. It's very nice because it gives protection to the clear lens itself which I was worries about scraching. I have it on the Olympus TG-3. It spins on and locks in very securely. It also comes with a lens cap. I can also attach filters to this if I so desire.

This ring mounts both 40.5mm filters and accessory lens. I had some Zeikos 52mm 2x telephoto attachments that fit on the adapter (using 40.5 to 46 and 46 to 52mm ring adaptors) with no instability due to the added weight. You do have to zoom in a little or your picture will vignette. Minus one star for being cheap plastic.
