5.0 out of 5 stars one of the easiest to use
Olympus d series digital cameras are very easy to use.
The one i have takes pics reasonably quickly for a digital.
It stops the action of a moving seen quite well, even
driving along in the car!

Hint: Only use the lithium batteries, alkalines will not

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice camera but it burns through batteries like crazy
Just in setting up, understanding how to use it with twenty pictures taken and downloaded to PC, I used 3 sets of brand new Duracell alkaline batteries, and the 1 set of alkaline included in the box (they lasted three minutes). You have to buy lithium or rechargeable.

Otherwise nice camera.

The auto downloading usb works great. The camera is
small and light.

It shows the pic you just took immediately on the lcd screen, a
big plus for my peace of mind. I print up to 5x7 or 8x10
on photo paper, looks very nice for a 2.1 pixel camera.

You do not need to use the program or any program for that matter to download from this camera. All you need is the driver on the cd disk the first time and then its automatic from there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your basic digital camera..., April 30, 2002
This review is from: Olympus Camedia Brio D-230 2MP Digital Camera (Electronics)
I wanted to join the rest of the technological world and buy a digital camera. I needed to keep up with the times and send pictures of the wife & kids, dogs, new house, and roadtrips via e-mail to my family 2000 miles away. I own two Olympus 35mm cameras - so I stuck with a brand name I knew. Outstanding photo quality... up to size 8x10. It has a "Quickplay" video feature. The menu is fairly easy, so you won't spend to much wasted time trying to figure things out. I've read many reviews here complaining about the short battery life... newsflash people - ANY digital camera is going to do this. Invest in the rechargable batteries. The ONLY problem I have with this camera is the zoom. The digital zoom simply increases the picture size... as to an optical zoom bringing you closer to the action. Great camera, great price... and the great name of Olympus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Olympus Camedia Brio D-230, April 12, 2002

If you are looking for a fantastic digital camera for a reasonable price, this is the camera for you. I know people with higher megapixel cameras, and the photographs I take with the 230 are just about as clear. I was really impressed by the macro mode. I get crystal clear close ups. Its features include a movie mode... something other 2 MP cameras don't really have. Alkaline batteries don't work well with any digital camera. Buy the rechargable batteries. They'll work just fine. The digital zoom also is just fine. If you want super wazoo features, save up and buy a [more expensive] camera. You get plenty of bang for your buck with this camera. Highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Olympus is King, April 23, 2002

This is my first digital camera. I have been waiting for a great deal on a 2+ MP camera. Amazon had it. The camera is great. I take it everywhere and have started to publish pictures on my web site.

The only drawback seems to be the battery life. I went to Radio Shack and invested in 4 rechargables. This has done the trick.

For [money], you can not do wrong. Upgrade the 128 card and you are set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great camera, Great price, April 27, 2002

Having owned an Olympus 35mm camera which takes great pictures and a so-so cheapo Hewlett Packard digital camera, I bought this one and it is a great camera. It has a lot of features for the price. With the 2.1 megapixels you can take photos that blow up to 8X10. It is very small and easy to use. I bought a bigger memory card and rechargable Nimh batteries for it. Wasn't too happy that the optional 110 adaptor from Olympus cost me 80 bucks. Open the lens cover and it turns the camera on. Takes great pictures. You can buy a better camera but why? This one does it all. Takes macros and even will make a 60 second Quickplayer video. Buy it.

For 2 megapixels, you really get a good deal at this price. The image quality is excellent and the menus are quite user friendly. You should get rechargeable batteries for this camera, but you can cut down on the batter drain by not using the monitor to take every picture. It's worth it for anyone interested in making the leap to digital without taking a huge hit in the pocket.

I'm very happy with my purchase of this camera, the battery life stinks, but I will be getting rechargeable batteries so that shouldn't be an issue,it's user friendly, and I'm glad that you don't have to use the software that came with it (it locked up my entire computer..) the photo quality is good, and the movie mode is pretty cool.all around good camera.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple & Capable, May 12, 2002

I just bought this camera along with some accessories to replace what would have been an enormous cost in developing film for my week-old daughter. The camera itself is a very easy to use point and shoot camera that has a relatively easy menu system that people wihtout a "gadgets" background can come to appreciate. It also offers some options pertaining to flash, picuture and movie quality, and more that I haven't even gotten to yet. I would recommend with this camera that you also invest in the listed rechargeable batteries (standard AA's don't stand a chance for much use but most cameras are like this anyway), a larger memory card (I got a 128 mb (simpletech) that can hold 92 SUPERHIGH quality pics), a card reader which makes it easier to transfer high quality pics to and from the computer, through the memory card, for editing, and Adobe Photoshop Elements 1.0, a user-friendly editing software.

Overall, this package has led to me and my wife producing only high quality pictures of our family to be put on paper and not wishing for 5 or 6 good pictures out of a 24-exposure roll. This camera is a great jump into digital photography.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Camera, Alkaline Batteries Not Usable, March 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Olympus Camedia Brio D-230 2MP Digital Camera (Electronics)
Odd that this camera should come with alkaline batteries. They lasted 10 or so shots. I put new...Duracell alkalines in, and they lasted about the same. The results seem excellent, though I have yet to try it outdoors in daylight. I will try the lithiums, and get back to you. I bought a Samsung 64 mb smart media for it, and it works fine...Aside from the stupidity of giving the consumer alkalines, which don't work worth a darn, the camera seems good.
